how cold did you have to get it?
Well, I don't know at what point the IMC starts being happy. I know it doesn't simply run DDR3-2133 on ambient cooling with no tweaks other than setting memory specs. Well, it ran it at what seemed stable until you run SuperPi32M, which would not complete.

As far as how cold, I couldn't tell you unfortunately. The limited time we had these (12 days from receipt to publishing) didn't allow too much experimentation. Since I knew from the WR they didn't have a cold bug, I just filled the pot with LN2 and kept it there until I was done.

EDIT - At stock 200 MHz bus, you can set DDR3-1600, 1866, 2133 & 2400. Not that it will run all of them, but you can set them on the Crosshair V Formula.

I swear in this thread I've seen people just refuse to look at the results. Yes BD is a let down because it's not a huge leap forward and consumes a larger amount of power. Doesn't mean you Intel fanboys have to start trolling here saying it's an complete failure and that AMD should bottom out. All you're going to do is bring out the AMD fanboys and start a flame war. We don't need that.

Thank you,

To be honest, people have been far more well behaved in this thread as opposed to others.

These are not the benchmarks I was expecting.

These are the benchmarks I had for over 2 months from my cousin.

Yes I know they're remarkably similar to Bjorn3D ones but maybe they were using the same software as my cousin.

I don't know what to say...

Sent JF-AMD a PM and asked for an explanation on performance. This is his reply:

"This processor is targeted at higher threaded workloads, not single thread performance.

8 cores, everything unclocked, great price. There is definitely a segment of the market that wants that."

So if im understanding this correctly, the future will be much brighter for bulldozer assuming applications in the future will utilize more cores?

What the heck? Think that was a mistake or is Newegg trying to be funny?

For those that didn't look at it is a combo deal for an Intel motherboard and a FX 8120.

Who said anything about an upgrade? My rig is perfectly fine, does everything I want it to, and is enough for gaming. Albeit with some GPU refreshing when the next gen's come out.

Although, I may just get BD to mess around with.

People keep saying this. If you're so confident that BD will be different in "real world usage", why do so many benchmarks not confirm this? Benchmarks are a measure of perceived performance. However, they are an indicator of how the chips will perform in the real world if given different scenarios.

I mean, if you (or anyone else) can provide evidence that BD performs better in "real world applications" I'll jump all over it. However, as it stands right now, it does nearly everything slow and while using more energy. That might be ok if the price was better... but it's not.

So, I'm going to wait for someone to prove that BD performs well in the "real world" because as it stands right now, it doesn't perform... at all.
Hows about Handbrake and Videora and the x264 benchmark? (Note: the first run of the x264 BM is just scanning and the second pass is actual encoding)
Is that not enough? Hows about Battlefield 3?

Well there's 4.

Look I'm not saying the BD is superduperawesomewow! However, it's not as bad as people claim it to be. There's still a lot of wrinkles that need to be ironed out. The most notable one is the OS scheduler. Since it's not optimized for BD yet, it'll randomly assign tasks to whatever core in a very inefficient manner.

thats impressive.....but still we need more user made reviews to judge the actual real world performance....

but the insane power requirements are still the biggest deal breaker imo.......

wow.. thanks for the info.. maybe it can bench @ 7ghz? hopefully at least 2d..

but if things stay the way they are.. it's gonna be like benching a phenom II with better imc
