Of course the price is a bit high right now... At least they will drop at a reasonable rate before changing the entire socket unlike the competitor who sets and leaves prices the same for a great while.

Personally, I like it. How fast do you really need to browse the web, and videogames?
Wow, a 2 frame difference is SUCH A LET DOWN! If my frames aren't at least 4 times what my monitor will display while ghosting why bother!
Seriously....

One thing I would like to see benched is micro stuttering.
The only area where BD is worth a hoot is where it consumes the most insane amounts of power. Even if a buisness were to get BD for it's computing power, the power draw is too much for them to find any type of savings and that is vs. SB. When it comes to SB-E or Ivy, forget it.

Like I said, this is a sad day for all computer enthusiasts. Intel can't start thinking they have no competition or we will not see a major improvement over SB for years....

This is not a Thuban in any way. It's a COMPLETELY NEW architecture.
Using a modern video GPU-dependent video game as a yardstick for CPU performance is just silly. Let us just call it that and move on, shall we? For a part supposedly targeted at enthusiasts, it falls way short. It does decently against 2600K under heavily multi-threaded apps...Unfortunately the overwhelming majority of apps are not that multi-threaded. Single threaded performance is what counts for most users, even enthusiasts...and the 8150 as it stands now falls flat on that score.

Heck I'm disappointed in the folding PPD BD generates-and that too is a highly multi-threaded task. From what I'm seeing it doesn't do any better than my 1055T, or my i7-950 ~13k PPD in SMP. Hopefully something is wonky software wise, but it doesn't sound like AMD has told the reviewers about this.

in power consumption and heat dissipation they were....so i guess the analogy is quite accurate......(leave performance part outta it....as fermi performed well even with those flaws but bulldozer is another story....).....

I guess the AMD camp is down voting the official review thread?

Very disappointed in AMD, although I suspected as much. Too many negative leaks with similar stories.

if this the way how things are gonna come then i think my i7 will last me another 3 years even more maybe......

I see BD FX8150 a little before it's time. The world isn't ready for such a multi threaded task crunching CPU. Maybe revisions will be released that address the low threaded task performance.

Very valid point from a business perspective if you're not already in a building that uses free(solar/wind) energy. You turn off the lights, and don't let giant printers sit turned on all day a long with all the other small things that sip power. The power is too high, but that isn't really a new problem is it.

very nice review hokiealumnus ... that imc has got me pumped to finally try some extreme memory benches

such big numbers, but scores are so mediocre

btw i assume you were using psc in that review? you didn't try out hypers by any chance did you lol.. i heard they do good on fx

EDIT: nvm i saw you used some flare.. i know i have some somewhere.. wow 2400MHz with them.. nice
