New shiny SSD for temp use on old Mobo's?

Hey everyone. Long time lurker here and joined a couple months ago. I will leave the introductions for another, more appropriate thread.

So finally going the ssd route. Ready to order a Crucial m4 128GB and I REALLY NEED your expertise guys on a few things.

First: I have 2 Mobo's.
ASROCK Conroe1333-DVI/H R2.0
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...3-DVI/H%20R2.0

MSI G31M2 V1
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G31M2-V1.html

Now using the Asrock solely because of the OCing options. Although minimal I still prefer the E7300 at 3Ghz than stock. Even if my ram works at 667Mhz than 800Mhz.

Before anyone jumps on me, this is a TEMP USE until my next build around early December(SB/ZAMB).

So here it goes:

1: Order it now and not use it until my new build? Although I can tell you 110.99% I will use it as soon as it arrives.

2: Wait and order it when my build is near ready so I can save a bit IF the prices goes down by then(early December)?

3: If I order it now which Mobo to use for best performance? Most important concern this. Please elaborate a bit on your choice.
E.g: 945G vs g31 etc. Both use an Intel ICH7 afaik. ASROCK: Intel® 82801GB MSI G31M2: Intel® 82G31

4: What performance can I expect of based on those Mobo's?(I know a lot lower, especially 4k's but a few other opinions do not hurt)

Thanks guys and I'm really eager to hear your responses.

Here come some answers:
1.Why would you do that? Use it now, when the new build arrives format c: and that's it.
2.Prices have no real reason go significantly down. You could wait for a weekend deal or a coupon, I've seen the 128GB bellow 1€/GB on offer (~1$/GB+taxes)
3.Same performance, the ICH is responsible with the storage part.
4.Same as you'd get with an identical-performance SandyBridge CPU on sata2, if such a slow SB would exist It is known the SATA2 controller hardly changed from ICH7 to ICH10/11, so with your CPU only 4Ks could be bottlenecked somewhat (not even sure if that would be the case). The SSD would be far superior to the HDD in any case.

The 128gb has gone on sale a couple times in the last month. Some prices were as low as $170.

You don't have to wait for the new build. This drive will help any computer.

However, I'd wait until a sale whether next week or black Friday.

Thank you dragosmp and mcg75. Really appreciated. Both for the replies and your help on this. Those are very encouraging to read.

I had read some good info on wiki about the ICH7 controllers but couldn't find any more info from people using the m4 128gb on them, other than a couple slow/avg performance complains, which turned out they were actually good results for Sata2.

So I'm full steam ahead for my order. Btw, I'm shopping from UK mostly and only from EU in general. Amazon uk is the cheapest I can order the m4 128gb for 167euros. If you know a cheaper seller or something please DO tell. Here or in pm.
