I was all set on a 2x4G kit of the mushkin redline ridgebacks with the 7-8-7-24 timings but just when i want to click....OUT on newegg. I can get the mushkins on their site but the newegg price was sooo good.

I saw the corsair vengence 7-8-7-24 at 1.5V and G-skill sniper serries at 7-8-7-24 at 1.6V.

Those ridiculous sinks on those really turn me off but they look good on paper, why so cheap?? and are they worth it?

I used both Mushkin & G.Skill's. And my experience on them is that, Mushkin clocks higher easily with bump up in voltage , but refuses tight timing's. G-skill accepts tight timings but don't like higher clocks means you can feed them with very low voltage.

And if it was me, then i would go for tight timing's rather than high clocks as higher clocks makes the RAM to demand more voltage which makes the stick's life shorter depending on the supplied voltage.

No experience on corsair sticks though !!

Was this a shellshocker?

You could always do an auto-notify and just wait until they come back in stock...

Haha, I don't think he's looking to get Hypers (impossible these days unless you buy used). He wants an 8GB kit, so he doesn't have to scrounge around the lesser-known brands for those.

I gotta admit, though, GeIL and Team Group were pretty awesome back during the Socket 939 days. I remember the GeIL ONE TCCD kits were an overclocker's dream. So were the Team Xtreem UTT BH-5 kits.

I don't think its a new thing with G.Skill , One dead out of TWO ?. When i had them one stick went bad with in 2 weeks. And previous Mushkin did the same thing. 1 out of 2 went with in 3~4 months. And now i am on new Ripjaw sets.

yeah...I am finding this out the hard way plus I get to have conversations like tthis:

G.Skill: It's all Gigabyte's fault, must be the motherboard or CPU, mb you got TIM on the underside of the CPU?

Gigabyte: It's all G.Skill's fault, it definitely isn't the motherboard....

btw I just noticed this is in the AMD memory section....I must have started this thread before BD came out. Since then this build has turned into an Intel one
