Add another 560Ti or wait?

Thread Starter
As the topic says, should I get another 560Ti and SLI them or wait for Kepler (when will the first Kepler cards be released)?

My biggest concern is microstuttering. If you've played Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas, you've probably noticed that these games have quite a bit of microstuttering. Is microstutter caused by SLI comparable to the microstutter in these two games?

I'm also planning on a motherboard + CPU upgrade so CPU bottlenecks should not be an issue... this will be my first time using a multi-GPU solution if I decide to go that route.

Thanks.

i dont think you should wait for keplar, because you cant confirm when it will be here. i would however suggest waiting for black friday.

If your single 560 Ti is stuttering you're probably hitting the VRAM wall. Play with Afterburner in the background and check your VRAM usage when it stutters.

I personally haven't experienced this stuttering but SLi does seem to cause more tearing when vsync is off.

My single 560 Ti doesn't stutter in most of the games I play (only 1920*1080 resolution). Fallout 3 and New Vegas have a kind of microstutter caused by the game engine (Oblivion too), not caused the hardware... it can only be remedied with certain mods. I was just asking how comparable it is to the stutter caused by having 2 GPUs, if it's anything like that at all.

The urge to upgrade is hard to resist. >_>

i would suggest to just stick with single 560 ti then sell it later and get the 580/590 in the near future. 560 ti has limited vram and memory, in the near future, new games will need more vram and higher memory even at 1080p only.

Are you happy with the performance? If so, then just wait.

I wasn't happy with the frame rates I was getting in BF3 Beta. I think I might just pick up a GTX580 if I manage to sell my current card.

Genome,

Look at my rig in sig....I got 2 of those Twin frozr 560Tis....BF3 was running fine, no microstutter, but at 1680 X 1050, I was running vRAM at 1005mo out of 1024mo....all settings at high...

I think the memory frame buffer takes as much as you give it...but, it's pretty close to the max!!!!!!!!!

anyway, your res is higher than mine, but for me, I was getting a MIN of 70FPS in the worst case scenario I encountered....on most servers, I was getting 80 to 110 fps outside...

You do know that the vram IS the memory, right?
