It's not the fact that software doesn't utilize all the cores that has people wondering what AMD was thinking. Single core performance is actually LESS than the previous Phenom II architecture. Also, IPC wasn't changed at all from the previous generation despite that being the biggest downfall previously.

I guess it raises the question though... If they knew that no software will support THAT many threads, then why make that type of CPU??
