Most PC racers tend to not focus on graphics
This. I'm so glad someone else noticed this trend. Have iRacing's attention to detail with Forza 4's graphics and physics engine.

NFS Shift had a 420hz physics engine, Forza 4 has a 360hz physics engine, iRacing I believe has a similar physics refresh rate of Forza 4.
Higher refresh rate =/= more realistic because IGN deemed NFS Shift arcadey comparing to Forza 3 and GT5 which I agree with. It certainly isn't as realistic as iRacing given all that it simulates. Besides, Shift on consoles only had a 30fps refresh rate compared to Forza's 60fps.

Read the developer interview with Dan Greenwalt, the Turn 10 guy. The color palette and lighting were chosen to give Forza a showroom/brochure feel as opposed to a more saturated realistic look.
Polygons, used to make scenes three-dimensional, were increased from 400,000 per car in Forza 3 to over one million in the new game. And unlike in Gran Turismo, the same attention to detail is lavished on each car in Forza 4.
With 16 cars on track at once... There's as many polygons per car in Forza 4 as there is in an entire scene in Crysis 1.
