is it worth it to upgrade from Asus Xonar DX to X-FI Titanium HD? - Page 3

I think you are misunderstanding. The driver that creative re-wrote for Win 7 was for the Titanium HD. You made the assumption that the drivers for the forte were the same based off the appearance of the Console GUI. I was simply pointing this mistake out.

Yes, I used the word drivers. But in the context, you can see my complaint's about the software used to manipulate the card's features. I honestly haven't had much issue w/ their "drivers" for years now...maybe the Live! and Audigy cards. IIRC, X-Fi's been relatively trouble free.

umm. i never plan to use stock drivers because honestly they are POS:gunner2:

im currently using UNI Xonar with c-media panel for my Asus Xonar DX because the stock drivers is just horrible. i also don't use Dolby because it just doesn't sound right

i don't intend to use stock drivers if i do purchase the X-FI HD so driver comparison should be irrelevant

i am still undecided if i should upgrade or not because i am not sure if the improvements would be noticeable or marginal

i don't know what mode you mean:confused:

i am using the Uni Xonar with C-Media Panel, ASIO and 5.1 stereo upmix fix

the options that i enabled on the C-Media panel are Virtual 7.1 and Dolby Headphone

the Dolby Pro Logic doesn't sound right so i disabled it

the advantage of using this driver according to the creator is

i am currently using the latest test version which fixes the driver signature error(no sound if you dont disable the driver signature in boot)

Does it help with positioning in games using headphones at all?

2. Through a Pimeta amp to either my 580's or 770's, the DX sounded cleaner, crisper.

3. CMSS3D DESTROYS sound quality. Dolby Headphone does not.

Keep the DX.

I have to agree with you on Creative's software package. It really is pretty poorly planned out.

I also never used Dolby Headphone on my DX but I do have to agree about CMSS3D butchering sound quality.
