Nah, they'd move to Asia first, and there are a bunch processor manufacturers.

only 10-15% performance increase every gen? Correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't Intel always achieved 25-30% more performance each new cpu gen?

AMDs prospects look bleak. they invested so much into this architecture and it looks to be a dismal failure. if they cant get it together with piledriver then im not sure they can ever be competitive in the high end space. im beginning to wonder if we wouldnt be better off simply seeing amd bought out by someone with a much bigger R&D budget with a need for an x86 license. Maybe samsung or ibm. i think samsung with an x86 license would be a force to be reckoned with.

amd is so lucky they got their graphics division. imo thats the only reason why they are still on the market.

I tend to believe anand about all of this. I think that gf is having yield problems. If bd could have a base clock of 4.3 and hit 5.0 with turbo core, all would be forgiven. This is amd's netburst. Think how crappy this must have been in june when Amd postponed until now. I'm also in agreement with everyone else, 10-15% increase per year for the next several years is not enough. The gap between intel and Amd will only grow bigger unless all software suddenly makes use of 8 threads and intel stops at 4 cores. The projected improvement in windows 8 isn't going to cut it. By the way, is this just a paper launch? Tiger direct showed "extremely limited" amounts of 8150s available which quickly sold out despite showing they would still take 7 to 10 days to ship. Newegg sold out quickly even gouging at $279.99. I wonder how many 8150s were actually available today...
Btw, looks like my signature prediction was pretty close.

Wow, SB has 60% faster IPC AND Ivy bridge is going to use tri-gate fabs. AMD, why are you failing so hard?
