but since 2006 AMD has been going down the wrong path, I remember when AM2 came out and all they did was add DDR2 support to the Athlon x2's I knew something was wrong, why release identical chips on a new platform and not make them better in any way?

then to counter the conroe they made the phenom I, which was a fail, the Phenom II wasnt such a fail but it is still behind the stuff intel came out with in 2008 (i7's) but it was a step in the right direction, looks like we got another Phenom I on our hands.

I was planning to buy the FX 8120. Didn't think the benchmark results and power consumption would be that horrible but turns out they were. Motherboard and CPU was the 2 things i needed still. I am upgrading from an Intel E6600 Conroe. Just bought the 2500k and asrock z68 extreme 3 from SuperBizz ($330).

welcome to the dark side my brother.... you wont be disappointed I temporarily was using a E6700 (overclocked to 3.5ghz) right after I sold my 1090t setup (when I was contemplating about waiting for BD) , you are in for a treat.

Next time I ever upgrade I will be going Intel.

I watched the Intel Vs. FX series CPU video made by AMD and they fudged those results by using the i5-2500k for video processing comparison instead of a i7-980x. Then using a i7-980x for gaming FPS instead of a i5-2600k.

In both those tests the CPUs broke even. I think its time to move over to Intel.

Probably, But i am just waiting a little longer, To see if amd says anything about bulldozers poor performance, and they can fix it by doing such and such, Although i doubt that will happen.

I switched back in May, then sold my 2600k and GA-P67A-UD7 in July while waiting for Bulldozer ... As much as I regret doing that today, I'm really thankful that I didn't buy an AM3+ ready motherboard, I'm gonna get intel again and never look back ..

I vow to never buy CPUs from AMD again .. AMD should just kill their whole CPU line already and focus on their GPUs ..

AMD are great for those that are more budget restricted or want an affordable HTPC or media server. For a mid to high end gaming platform it is certainly not the right direction to go in. I wanted AMD to pull out all the stops and actually be a serious competitor this time around, even though it was a tall order.

But with the recent FX iteration i think it's just going to reinforce common thought that AMD is not viable for a gaming machine.

The problem is their company isn't run very well. They hired their CEO in August of this year.
