Any one else making the switch to Intel - Page 10

My 945 O/C'd does all I want it to do, and it doesn't bottleneck my 5850. It sucks that Zambezi was *mostly* a flop for gamers and enthusiasts, but I didn't preemptively buy an AM3+ anyway (was going to wait ~3 months to work out kinks).

I'll stick it out with what I've got until I see the pressing need to upgrade. By then, AMD may release Piledriver with decent results and an even better price/performance ratio. If Intel still has the better price/performance ratio, ill go with an Intel chip.

Basically, the release of Zambezi has only made me more conscious about how competitive Intel can be in the price/performance arena.

Well, if I had the money I would do the switch/upgrade to a BD.
I don't think BD is a flop. It does well in my point of view.

Sold the 990FX, got me a cheap Z68 until X79 comes out.

No more AMD for me anymore.

I won't be heartbroken again!

Ugh... Why? My computer does everything I ask of it. Seems pretty silly to buy something else, just because the manufacturer's latest product didn't live up to your expectations. I will continue to base my purchases on both my needs and my budget.

I feel so let down I have bought my pc parts to get everything together thinking BD might be close or higher in performance than the i5 2500k to find out its not even on par with Phenom II 1100t I am a little pissed i just hope that my 1055t can handle my 2nd 560ti when it get here or i might just have to sell off some parts......

Cause lots of people were going to "upgrade" to the FX series, many people put off upgrading all year waiting for BD. But seeing how hard BD fails, the only logical course of action if one wants an upgrade is to go with Intel, unless said person is a hapless fanboy.

Actually, if you have waited all year on BD, you get to cash in on the great deals that are to be had on i5s and i7s now. Prices are down a bit.

Myself, I am getting a 990FX motherboard (hopefully it arrives in a week) and will wait for BD to mature. I want the FX 8170 that runs 3.9 GHz at stock. By then any software fixes should already be out and the performance should slowly creep up.

I am not very worried about single threaded performance. Why buy an 8 core CPU for single threaded apps? I don't just sit around and game on old games all day on my computer. I actually do things like computations, rendering, encoding and the like. I also don't waste my day running benchmarks that have no real world purpose other than bragging rights.

BD is outperforming/equal to Phenom IIs in most aspects right now. Once it matures it will actually become a viable upgrade for me. I am not gonna cry if it runs some games at 5 FPS lower, big whoop.

It's all how you look at it, if you expect new technology to release without issues then you haven't been using new technology for very long. Bleeding edge has lots of issues at the beginning. If in 3 months time BD still is very underwhelming then you can go ahead and call it a flop.

Although sales numbers will probably disagree, there is already a dozen reviews for 2 of the FX CPUs on Newegg and the FX 8150 is very hard to find in stock right now. People are buying them and most of the people are liking them.
