Asrock Fatal1ty P67 Performance, thoughts and suggestions.

Hey everyone, I think I'm about ready to just buy a SB and was looking around the forums for suggestions. I looked around and I see what's most recommended and what everyone likes but I'm a big bang for buck guy that also believes you DO get what you pay for.

I pretty much excluded Gigabyte from the running as I just don't like their hybrid Bios and the whole PCI 3.0 left me with a bad taste in my mouth. So my main choices where Asus, MSI and Asrock with Biostar bringing in the rear because of their value.

My choices were really narrowed down because of price and bang for buck:

Asus: P8P67 PRO/ P8P67
MSI: P67A-GD65, Z68A-GD65-G3
Asrock:Z68 Extreme4 Gen3, P67 Extreme4, ASRock Z68 PRO3
Biostar:TP67XE

But then I saw this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157253 and for the life of me I can't find the down side of it except not enough info on it. Looks great, Asrock has been making solid boards the price is fantastic but their warranty is only two years which doesn't worry too much but it is a con against the board. I couldn't find info on the VRM's so if someone could help that would also be greatly appreciated.

So I'm here to for everyone's opinions on the matter and if maybe I should spend more for an Asus or an Extreme4 gen 3. I obviously plan to OC though I haven't decided on a cooler but I'm only looking for maybe 4.6 which I think a hyper 212+ should handle just fine.

Please note that even though I included Z68 boards I'm not gonna use quick sync or ssd caching and would have zero use for the igp that is in the i5 2500k

Also I just got home from work a bit ago and might fall asleep any second now tongue.gif but I will check this as soon as I'm up in case I do.

*edit* Also I don't really do the CF/SLI thing and really prefer the single card solutions.

You carnt go wrong with the Pro, extremly popular board, does well, handles itself. ITs weather you want to spend more for the bells and whistles. The Pro will take a 2500k to 5ghz easily, but are you wanting to do that 24/7? the asrock, looks nice, more asthicatlly pleasing, but its out of stock? so youll hvae to look else where, but other wise, asrock is getting on par with asus and their build quality.

Thanks kona, I have a micro center near me so I have more options. I think I don't really need the extra bells and whistles but that biostar has a nice price.

Hey mate,

From personal experience I can tell you that I love the board, really high quality make and it looks smexy smile.gif. I've got it in my current SB sig rig, and am about to attempt the push to 5ghz with water cooling, I'll let you know how it goes smile.gif.

Overall though, I would highly recommend it. It has a great layout, the BIOS (UEFI or watevs.. lol) is great, makes for easy OCing, and performs very well. Feel free to PM me with any nitty gritty questions if ya have them smile.gif.

Cheers,
GA

Thank you, seems like I'm pretty much leaning towards it, but this will be the lesser of the fatality boards the performance not the professional that you have. Though I'm sure the uefi will be a lot a like and at $120 pairing it with the $180 i5 2500K its just a no brainer.

I wonder if my AMD Phenom II Edition 932 will burst into flames when I put the SB rig in there tongue.gif

Ahh my mistake! Well hopefully they will be similar, what are the main differences between the two boards?

Just leaving work sorry for late response, from what I could tell just the single 16x pcie and a lot less sata ports. The only thing I want to make sure about is the vrms. I should really check out what it has, I know micro center doesn't have enough info but I really haven't made an effort to find out.
