Did you look at the screenshots from those posts? The tpf's look consistent. Maybe this new core design just isn't cut out for folding...

The new core design isn't cut out for much of anything.... Power draw alone makes this very unappealing from a business standpoint - electric bills are something that are taken very seriously from the IT standpoint, and bulldozer doesn't fit the bill. I know F@H isn't "business" per se, however if you're still folding you'd be better served with a 2500k/2600k build.

One thing I noticed from those folding screenshots: The cores aren't all at the same speed, yet they are all at 100% load. Fault in the monitoring software or is that how this chip operates?

I believe that is AMD turbo turned on. Perhaps that should be turned off before running something like FAH which utilizes all CPU threads?

If those TPFs are right on the bigadv, it's so bad it's not even funny. My X6 clocked at 3.44 and DDR3-1640 got PPD of 25k in VM, a 20% decrease(reasonable assumption) going to W7 native would mean ~20k PPD. This clocked higher and more threads is performing at about 70% of my slower X6, sigh...

But hoping something was wonky with the test, and waiting for some more numbers. But I won't buy one to test, unless someone gives it to me.

The thing I wonder about is FPU intensive applications. BD hasn't done well in benchmarks like CineBench and that might explain why it's not doing so well in folding. I read something along those lines last night but it was late and I was tired so, like a dummy, I didn't bookmark it for later reading. I could be way off base here though.

If folding is FPU intense that would be explainable, since iirc the FPU are are shared between cores on a module while the ALU isn't shared.

I, too, was hoping that a saving grace of BD's architecture would be some great folding potential. However, I'm still waiting on good results. I am sitting here, shaking my head, trying to figure out who this chip is marketed towards.

The ever present power draw specter, done in a nice pretty graph here: http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/11...l#post15275434

Hoping 2600ks drop in price from this (although lord knows they don't need to) so I can sweet talk the missus.

Looks like the folding rig is going to be an i7-2600k, even if BD proves to be as good or better at folding, the power draw is simply redonculous.
