Cat eats audio equipment? Only one thing to do. Donate cat to Chinese restaurant. They'll take care of him.

You could try some Sony MDR-7506's. They are available on Amazon.com for somewhere around $85. They come with a bag that you can put them in so that your cats can't get to the cable when you aren't using them.

2) Coat the wires in bitter stuff. You can buy a little bottle at a pet store. Most cats absolutely HATE it, and won't even go near them.

3) Spray your cat with a spray bottle adjusted to the narrow spray, not the big wide spray. They definitely don't like that and will generally get the point when you blast them everytime they come near your computer. Not the face, just on their backside.

4) Get a little box online that releases compressed air when the cat triggers a motion sensor on it, place this near the computer. Most cats will learn not to mess with it because they REALLY hate the compressed air blasts.
Definitely #3. My cats absolutely HATE the spray bottle, all i have to do is reach for it and they run.....ive tried the bitter stuff but it doesnt bother them in the least bit.

My DataVac works wonders too

I got a cat because you don't have to bathe it, change it's diapers, or watch it like a baby for the rest of it's life like you would a dog. The only complaint I have about cats is mine likes to go for the headphones. Nothing but the headphones. She seems to know when they become damaged, because once they do she loses complete interest in them. I have about 5 pairs of headphones hanging off the wall, laying on the floor, to divert her but she doesn't fall for it. She goes straight for the new pair. She doesn't go for them when I am using them. She knows I will shoo her away... she waits for that moment I put them down and turn away. I have tried spraying the cords, wrapping tape around it. She doesn't even go for the cell charger, or other small cables, just the headphones. I have spent hundreds on getting new pairs of cheap headphones.

I came to the conclusion that the only way to keep them safe from her is to lock them up. I have a large wooden trinket box with a metal clasp. Lightweight and portable. Whenever I don't use my headphones I put them in there and she can't get to them. I suppose you could even use tupperware. I prefer this to a bag, as bags require some finesse to hold open while trying to shove your headphones in there. Also, a cat can still chew through a bag.
