ASrock fatality z68 pro gen3 Or Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3

looking for a OCing/gaming rig
plan to pair with a 2600k or 2700k(when it comes out)

a few questions

- does the mb have to say gen 3 for it to support pci 3.0?
- is the P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 the best asus board in the 100-200 pound range?

atm I could get a P8Z68-V PRO(it doesnt say gen 3 thou) (for 150~) and the ASrock fatality for (~200) -

or do you recommend something else? (prefer 200 max spend but would consider).

also what would be the best ram to pair with this mb 16 gigs worth 4x4.

Plan to run this with a m4ssd, 4 sata hds and a h80

thanks
(least the crappy BD reviews makes my next upgrade easy)

You get the NF200 controller in the ASRock so you can use tri sli, where as the V pro is only 2ways.

And yes the non GEN3 asus's are only pci2.0.

I forsee max vid cards would be 2. I cant seem to find any P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 in the uk ... only the P8Z68-V PRO

Have been researching boards for the past few days ...

asrock fatality
+ benching and ocing good, 2 nics, enough sata 3s 6, 2 pci 3.0 slots now
- reset and powerswitch on mb light up (err who cares), ide connector (go away), 50~pounds more
(does not include nf200 controller the ext7 does)

asus p8z68v pro gen 3
+ cheaper, more support from what I can tell; appears more people are using the board
actually like the color scheme better on this board - have a blue fan led in front of my case and it matches.
- from what I have read the gen 3 wont be coming out till this month~, 4 sata 3 ports, oc's may not be as good and benches perhaps not as good as the fatality

asrock ext4 gen 3
+ cheap in price like the asus but it has support for pci 3.0, nicer color scheme imo then the fatality
- oc's may not be as good and benches appear to be a little less, broadcom nic

Ive looked at reviews of other boards, including the msi gd80 ... but these 3 imo are the best options atm.

Im going to go read some more reviews on the ext gen 3 some more ... all muddeled up in my mind from reading some many reviews (posts) ...

atm leaning toward the asus and waiting for the new version but if I can get a asrock fat for a decent price Ill prob do that ... but if I like what I read about the asrock ext4 gen 3 might just go with that ... like to get this done in the next couple of weeks (built).

I just found out that the Asrock Extreme3 and Extreme4 have LGA 775 AND LGA 1155 holes to mount heat-sinks. Big plus if you have an LGA 775 cooler and don't want to order those dumb attachments. I am upgrading from LGA 775 so this was good news. Also these boards seem like they are feature packed and solid, which is why I bought the extreme3 (in the mail).
