AMD FX8150 with multiple GPU's? - Page 4

Jagged_Steel, You should probably just put those benchmarks as your sig, you post them on every thread you join in on.

The FX series CPUs are a big disappointment and they demonstrate AMD's continually diminishing ability to match Intel's CPU's for performance. It was obvious that BD was not going to perform well when their price's were released, AMD knew they could not compete performance wise so the only way they could sell them was to compete with prices.

Even so, their performance does not justify their price bracket and it is obvious we will see a large hit to AMD this year.

You put a slow enough processor with any video card and it will become the bottleneck. The BF3 Beta was more GPU-bound than CPU-bound, and I fully expect the retail game with full graphical options to be even more GPU-bound.

The i3 2100 has two cores and hyperthreading. The two cores in it are much faster than the two cores in the Phenom II x2. In fact it's so much faster it's pretty much on par or faster with Phenom II X4s in multithreaded games.

^This. Plus I can't take too much away from the BF3 beta benchmark either, it's a multiplayer beta. I had results all over the place when I was benching BF3 performance, even trying to run the same path, and do the same actions.

In fact it doesn't.

There is no "bashwagon". There is no anti-AMD conspiracy, nor agenda.

Bulldozer not losing in a small fraction of largely GPU limited gaming tests does not imply that it is a great gaming CPU, not in any way, shape, or form...not by any stretch of the imagination.

Are there a handful of gaming situations where Bulldozer won't do terribly, relative to the competition? Sure. However, in these cases, chances are that you could find numerous AMD and Intel CPUs that would do the same, for less.

Can we stop posting benchmark results of single GPU in a thread asking about multi-GPU performance, please?

I was just curious how it does with 2, or 3 higher end GPU's, now it's turning into a flamewar... /facepalm

I never suggested there was a conspiracy against AMD. In the world I live in money talks, and Intel spends many many times what AMD does in advertising. All of these websites that have reviews are trying to make money, and that mostly comes from advertisers. When it comes time to ladle out the advertising gravy, do you think a site that gave the FX a glowing review on opening day is going to get some, or maybe would it go to the site that buttered Intels bread?

OHHH PLEASE......

And seriously stop derailing OP's thread! I don't think anyone has had the chance yet to test multiple gpu's with this processor or they are in the process now, I would give it a couple of days before a result like that.

One thing that I find very interesting with all of these "GPU bound benchmarks", is how the FX 8150 beats even the i7 2600k in minimum framerates. Anybody that has gone from AMD Phenom II to an i5 / i7 knows that the minimum framerates is what makes the most difference.

I dunno, I'm seeing somewhat positive results in some of these benchmarks, even though its a single GPU system. Others, obviously less than stellar.

But no, there's no reviews done yet with a multi GPU setup. I'd wait until OCN members get their hands on some of these chips. We'll see MUCH more accurate benchmarks at that point.
