AMD FX8150 with multiple GPU's? - Page 6

A lot of games only care about gpus. Upgrade your cpu, it's hit or miss. Upgrade your gpu, you will get higher frame rates. Problem solved.

By definition, when you have a CPU bottleneck you will get no performance benefit from a GPU upgrade.

Upgrade to HD 6970s in CFX and see how those AMD chips treat you.

I always like how Jagged Steel comes and embarasses himself.

Over and over again.

In every bulldozer thread on OCN.

BD sucks.

Get over it.

Order a 2600k or a 990x if you need all the cores.

If not 2500k.

Install it.

Forget about it.

Enjoy it.

If you read the review they say the results have "multiplayer inconsistency". Its not a fair test because technically all runs are slightly different. HardOCP also stated that on this specific benchmark they couldnt feel any difference between either of the 3 cpu's, which means BF3 is heavily multi-threaded. On a single card in some games BD chips keep up with the SB cpu's happily, in others it looses miserably. If you are soley a gamer then the 2500/2600k is a no brainer.

Thread Starter
Well somebody finally did a review comparing the FX 8150 vs i7 2600k with 3 HD6970's. The results are pretty much what we expected.

The bottom line is that AMD is just going to have get the clock speed up if they want to compete with Intel on the BD architecture. Its IPC just isn't good enough. I'm sure it would be amazing if you ran it on software that's heavily multithreaded, but that's not how people write code right now.

I can't believe they originally intended to introduce BD at these clock speeds. They've had the chips in their labs and knew they weren't going to do great at 3.6 GHz or less. AMD needs for Global Foundries to get their act together. If these chips were being introduced at 4.2 GHz stock without ridiculous power consumption, the reviews would be different.

My FX8150 has no issues pushing my Dual 6950"s around.
