So I want to overclock my 2600k... - Page 6

Thread Starter
I was going to try that but I heard too high negative offsets cause BSOD on lower clocks because of undervoltage.

But do you think that I should just leave it the way it is, or could having an "unstable" overclock cause anything other than random crashes?

your temps look fine for a stress test. In fact I'd say that 80c is fine when you're stress testing. So I would nudge up the vcore just a bit. Remember Prime95 is stressing the CPU cores to the max, you never do that normally.

Yes the under voltage is possible and could cause instability but with LLC on ultra high and a normal negative offset you should not have any problems. The only reason to use negative offset is because your mobo is a little bit overenthousiastic with providing voltage to your CPU .

Prime is a stress test but gaming, browsing, listening to music and watching youtube vids is also stability testing

I followed this and during running prime95 and viewing cpu-z it was showing that it was at 3.8ghz. From here, how would I up the overclock?

Thanks.
