Protect against EA Origin spyware

Thread Starter
Hi! As a lot of you, I am both waiting with excitement and skepticism BF3. To me it seems that EA, using BF as a vehicle, is attempting to set up store *literally* in your (and mine) PC. A lot of you already know that Origin is a version of spyware. It is not clear what activity monitors and what information it has access of.

So, in essence, I need fellows forumistas to propose ways I could block Origin accessing information I do not want it to collect.

Furthermore, it is important for users to understand that we have a right to know:

Access—data subjects should be allowed to access their data and make corrections to any inaccurate data
Accountability—data subjects should have a method available to them to hold data collectors accountable for following the above principles.

We shouldn't have to worry about if there is "something to hide" on our pcs.. Its quite intrusive....

Jesus Christ, try being a little more uninformed why don't you. Once again, privacy has very little to do with sexual deviancy or illegal activity. It is an incredibly broad subject that goes way beyond "having something to hide".

@op. I tried running it through Sandboxie, but I couldn't get it to interact correctly with Battlelog.

@theturbofd. Did you manage to run the beta OK through Sandboxie? If so what did you do in particular?

How about all the financial info that runs through my PC's both mine and clients? I have no idea who can see what at EA, but I know that all of everything I am doing is none of their business.

Let's stick to the subject. If I wanted to hide something I would not be housing it in the same desktop I play games. It does not matter if we want to hide something or not. Apart from deleting the LSO/advertising cookies what else can one do?

Actually, it is probably the additional DLL I ran with the profile.

http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=4885&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

It completely blocks the sandboxed program from accessing memory externally. If vanilla sandboxie works, I will go back to that.
