If I'm correct, the $40 off sale is over. Only the $80 off sale is still current.

Here's an option you can also consider...

If you do not mind owning a Biostar mobo, you can buy the i7 2600k and the Biostar TZ68A+RCH for $29.99 for a total of $329.35 with tax

That mobo had received some nice reviews & is considered to be a good OCing mobo...

I'm not sure though, on the z68x it works. Who knows...
The 4 phase worries me a little though.

Understood...Normally, I would not suggest to have under a 6-phase.

I will have to agree with this. You will have to go $40 to $45 above your budget which I think it's worth the cost.

if you get the 2500k from mc @ 180, and the maximus 4 gene from newegg for 170, it comes out to exactly 350 before tax and shipping

You can't go wrong with an ROG board.

Getting $80 off a motherboard when you purchase a 2600K makes it almost pointless to buy a 2500K and a full price motherboard when the 2600K + mobo is only ~$20 more.

2600K($280) + P8Z68-V LX ($125-$80=$45) - $325 + Tax

2500K($180) + P8Z68-V LX ($125) -$305 + Tax

I just build a system from Microcenter's sale. Went with the 2600k and Asus P8Z68-V Pro. Perfect motherboard on a budget. I overclocked my 2600k to 4.5ghz on just using auto on almost all setting and offset voltage. Can't be any simpler than that. Definitely recommend the Asus P8Z68-V Pro
