Which 990?

Thread Starter
For my sig rig with the exception to adding a M4, 8GB Ripjaws F3-12800 and RX360 cooler. My goal is to OC to around 4ghz or above and I do game. I am only going with 1 GPU but may/may not xfire later. Are the FX boards really that much better to OC then the X's?

I had my heart set on a 990FX-UD3 but I would like others opinions or what would be best price/performance ratio. I would like to see if anyone has OC'ed with the Biostar TA990FX. I am not to brand picky either. BTW I have used the search function but would like some help deciding. Thanks.

Well if you want the best overclocking board then the Asus Crosshair V is really your best bet. Its what they set the OC records for bulldozer on.

Gigabyte or MSI better quality better stability, even ASrock out does ASUS it hasn't been making quality items lately just a big sell out now. I have old ASUS mobo's used to love them not anymore. ask any ASUS motherboard owners recently as of 2011.

He never said he was upgrading the CPU

I haven't seen the TA990FXE in action but if its anything like the TA890FXE then it should still be a beast.

Get either that one or your recomendation of the UD3. They are really the best bang for the buck motherboards.

EDIT: Only difference between the FX and X boards is the SLI capability.

I have played around with the GA-990XA-UD3, GA-990FXA-UD3, Fatal1ty, and Crosshair V. Out of the four I really liked both of the Gigabyte boards and the Crosshair V. Didn't have enough time with the Fatal1ty so I can't really comment on that one.

Well I ordered the Asrock 990FX Extreme4. Has everything I need so hopefully everything works ok. Never had an Asrock before but from all the posts I have read here it seems like they are reliable.

Asus CH5F and GB 990FXA UD7 is better, but CH5F good timing divider. But I like both of ... because The Layout looking beautifull.
