I ran into a bit of a problem, all of a sudden my pc would not boot, narrowed it down to either cpu , memory or motherboard. I called up asus told them my specs, ran through all the hoop, and thier responce was the memory isnt supported my my motherboard, and the the memory is now fried. my specs are in my sig. Basically I am wondering if you wonderful folks think its just the ram thats killed or if it would take the motherboard with it, or if it would fry just the mobo. I always assumed DDR3 memory is ddr3 memory, if it clicks in and boots its fine... apparently ram can work great for 6 months and just stop booting because its not compatable with the 870 chipset...only the 890....

That just sounds like ASUS is giving you the run-around. I would start switching parts out on your PC to find what is wrong. Borrow or buy really cheap ram to test in your motherboard.

I'll be doing that on friday, i know the powersupply hard drive ,dvd burner, and video card is fine since i tested alll that, i just wish there was a place nearby that sold ddr3 memory and not just new egg...wish my case or motherbboard came with a speaker so i could get a beep code or something, i'll be calling asus again at a dif time in a effort to get a better second opinion,

See if your case came with a "beeper." One came with mine and hooks up to the motherboard, that is what makes the beep sound. Did you try just using one stick at a time? Try each stick in each slot, all of the sticks can't be bad and all of the slots can't be bad either.

This happened to me, it was the motherboard. It's rare that every stick of RAM is bad, and unless you had a really high overclock then I doubt the CPU fried.

Well i'm off to bed, anyone else care to chip in it'd be appreciated, but as it stands now i'll be testing new ram and anything i can, hopefully it's not the motherboard, because if it is, i'll be trying to get some kind of warranty coverage, if they fail me there, i'll be writing off asus..... wonder if there's a asus vendor rep here?
