GTX 480 SLI + Antec 620's Mod - Page 25

Just for kicks try running the system with the panel off. I dont think it will help but who knows. Also post a pic of the system running and the guts exposed, the last shots posted showed an awful lot of stuff jammed into that case, perhaps poor air flow........

just the same its all looking good and the temps are inline with what the others are getting.

Simple bios mod fixed it, just took my bios changed the fan value and modded it overtop of my original, alls good now =D very happy with mod so far, time to try it out to night for real. Pretty awesome temps, 1 question though i cant see vrm/vram temps is that normal, does the card not have sensors? And any damage of i run the card at 25% while gaming? Like gpu temp stays at 50 but no idea if thats enough fan speed for the vrms or what ever

My 560ti had no sensors for anything, i could only get the chip temp. I would hold the palm of my had over the cards areas for a heat test, at times it could get very warm. There really is no way to tell your vram temps without sensors or a lazer temp sensor. If your not overvolting the card you have nothing to worry about. You still have your fan running on the card and the pcb will recive more air flow then if the heatsink was in place and restricting air flow. Your golden!

Congrats on your temps btw. Fantastic thumb.gif

I just finnished 4 hours of skyrim on ultra using nvidia 3d vision at 1080p, my max temps were 51c ( its the highest temp this re&re) and i cant hear any noise from the gpu or the rad fans. The psu is very loud.....need to get a better psu.

+rep for you, welcome to the club wink.gif

Ill post proper pics tomorrow along with some bench temps in a new thread, so far so good, max temp 62 with 50% fan speed in bf3 and fsx with 100% gpu load very nice =), I expect it to be a bit lower in skyrim as it dosnet get my card as hot if i remember correctly.

Only issue now, out side mounter typhoon is loud ( like the one inside the case is fine but when you put the fan outside its kinda annoying) How could i fix this, ill post inside pics tomorrow, the inside is sooooo ghetto, the rad isnt even screwed to the fan loool. Im surprised that the case even had room.

case must have like 0 airflow, 1 fan is blocked by wires +rad and the other is blocked by ram sticks + rad on top tongue.gif so my load temps are pretty good even at 62 C

would that work to control my typhoons? these fans are way to loud, ill try to replace them with my original case fans which were dead silent, although not as powerfull.

I recently upgraded to a full water loop for my CPU, I had a H100 on it previously, so I decided to put the H100 on my GTX 560

I just did the zip tie trick with a little bit of adjusting, also added some heat sink fins on the ram chips to help keep it cool.

359

I'm already running quite a few fans in my system ( 9 i think ) but it seems to fit well

I mounted the rad in such a way that the fan behind the rad pulls air through, and still blows on the vid card a bit.
( may change this later )

Only big problem i'm having now is that the fans i'm using are weak, so i either need to swap fans, or move the rad to somewhere else ( but i like the look of where its at now ) had
to make some custom brackets to hold it up.

here is a picture of everything mounted
359

and a glamor shot
359

Eventually, when I go SLI ( its a slow build in progress ) i'll get some GPU blocks as well.
( i have the h100 unit for sale on craigslist atm )

Yesterday I was running Crysis at a mix of high/very high settings, 1080, and 2xAA, and GPU / CPU were at 71°c/47°c vs idol of about 30°c for both GPU/CPU ( no overclocking as of now ) The CPU rad is cold, but you can feel the heat off the GPU H100 rad.

One thing i would like to try to do is to just cut out the stock h100 rad/tubing, and connect my main water loop to the h100 block but two problems with that is
1. going from 1/2" tubing to 1/4"
2. will the pump in the h100 slow down the flow rate?
3. what (if any) temp drops would i see.

Anyway, questions, let me know.

Note: this is my first build, so let me know what yall think, IMO I would still like to drop the GPU temps a bit, but if 70° is chill, then I will just leave it as is for now.

@clayton

I posted a response in the cakewalks thread to your pics. Looks very good but temps seem high for this mod. Still I'll give you a well earned +rep for a great job....looks like its your first but im sure there are a few more incoming thumb.gif

Welcome to the club

Also i would not cut the hoses or mod the rad untill you see what the best temps can be had with this mod. Im sure you can drop another 20c off those temps, not sure why they are so high. Do you have any play in the pump. I do with my 580 but its so minimal i dont think it affects my temps. Are you able to use plyers to get a few more clicks locked onto the zipstraps. I find plyers will allow me to tighten the zipstraps just that little bit more. It could be a TIM issue, i found a large pocket of air between my H70 and IHS, it manifiested as large fluctuations in temps at idle but still load temps never hit 70c even when 1.293v and 1000+core.

Still very, very nice. Get those temps sorted out and lets see some benchmarks. Id like to compair them to my 560ti mod scores.

thanks guys, I'm pretty sure i fried the mo-bo, i was tinkering around and one of the ram chips was not re installed properly, smelt the eletcrical burning smell, and now Mo-Bo will not post.... so looks like i'm gonna be out for the weekend.

I know i can get the temps lower, i have 2 really crappy fans on the rad right now ( put the stock h100's on my CPU rad ) and the mounting is not in the best location ( i could hook it to my side panel, but 1. would have to unscrew it each time to take the panel off, and 2, would block my pretty water loop. IMO i would have rather done an h80, because most of the info i read, there is not much difference between a properly installed h80 and h100 on a CPU (+/- 3-5°)
and with a case like mine, i don't have much play room, i hate crowded cases, and wires are ugly )

the zip ties are on there as tight as i feel comfortable with

and uber noob question, i'm guessing TIM is the thermal paste?

I was also reading aobut the 560 mod where you pop off the GPU cover plate and trim it down, but i was thinking of removing it all together and setting the h100 directly on the actual GPU ( and covering up the transistors as well ) but i'm not sure if i want to risk that mod or not.

anyway, since i have to go by a new Mo-bo to replace my fried one, (only 1 month old too mad.gif ) i'm gonna find a way to re position the rad, and if i get a different mo-bo, it may can allow me some more creative mounting positions.

NOTE: i am running a gtx 560, NOT a 560 Ti
