Just got my 2nd 590 in

Thread Starter
This one came in a much smaller box than the first one I ordered. I flashed my 1st one back to stock so I can see what the quad sli setup does on stock clocks and just to make sure temps dont exceed what they should. My board doesnt have much spacing between the two cards so its minimizing the airflow but if temps are right I will be flashing the cards and putting them back at the OC i once had. The cards seem exactly the same except it appears the light under the GeForce lettering and symbol is a bit dimmer on the new one. Heres some pics.

When the sandy bridge E series comes out im planning to upgrade and get a board with better spacing and maybe do some case mods or possibly even a new case to for improved cooling.

Those are the only 2 slots I have that are 2.0 with 16 lanes. If I had a choice I would have spaced them.

The top one could be.... hot. It can get air, sure, but the vram uses the backplate as a gigantic heatsink.

However, there is a very simple solution!

Water.

The performance you lose from running them at x8 is extremely negligible.

They are both x16 but if you run two cards in both x16 slots it will be like running x8 in each slot. It is extremely minimal in difference between x16 x16 vs x8 x8
