Just got my 2nd 590 in

This one came in a much smaller box than the first one I ordered. I flashed my 1st one back to stock so I can see what the quad sli setup does on stock clocks and just to make sure temps dont exceed what they should. My board doesnt have much spacing between the two cards so its minimizing the airflow but if temps are right I will be flashing the cards and putting them back at the OC i once had. The cards seem exactly the same except it appears the light under the GeForce lettering and symbol is a bit dimmer on the new one. Heres some pics.

When the sandy bridge E series comes out im planning to upgrade and get a board with better spacing and maybe do some case mods or possibly even a new case to for improved cooling.

why would u space your 590's like that?
are those your "preferred" pci-e slots?

The top one could be.... hot. It can get air, sure, but the vram uses the backplate as a gigantic heatsink.

However, there is a very simple solution!

Water.

So you are saying that even tho asus specifys that they are 2.0 x16 (dual x16) that they actually are dual x8?

Nice case btw;)
Thanks Im thinking about doing some mods to it. It needs more intake fans. I plan to cut the stock window out of the panel and put a full plexi window there and add some fans to it to help put some cool air between the 590s. Also I want to flip the psu over and cut a vent into the case there so it pulls the air from outside the case. My air flow is messed up right now because I took one of the front intakes and made it an exhaust. I also added a fan inside of it to tunnel the heat dumped from the front of the cards directly to that front exhaust. So right now i have negative pressure and the front intake above the exhaust for the card is probably sucking that hot air right back in the case. I need to to do some work to the case or watercool these gpus because adding this extra card is making things HOTT. Also I may have to run a dedicated circuit for my psu because its pulling 1kw from the wall when I stress the system. I'm an electrician by trade tho so that wouldn't be an issue.

Hi, the Antec 1200 on the side door have a space for one 120mm fan. I would get the most beefy dam fan you can find and slap it on the door

-Congrat's on the great purchase as well...

Thanks! I currently have a fan installed there. The problem is its a bad placement choice by antec. My dark knight cpu cooler would have prevented me from using the fan on the side panel but I simply used a dremil to trim down the fan so it would fit. Im thinking of putting a 200mm fan there or a combination of 120s with one near the cpu also. Maybe even a new case but I like this one too much to give it up.

Congrats on the new addition!

And I agree with MKHunt with the above - this rig would be beastly if all under water! Not only would it be quieter, but you wouldn't have to worry about your cards starving for cool air, and you'd possibly overclock further.

Very true what kind of loop would be sufficient for 2 590s? i was thinking since I have the antec 1200 I can get the rad for the top fan which is a 200mm to throw between the 2 cards and maybe a 240 after the 2nd card.

That is a possibility.

If you are interested, our own andrewmchugh has done an amazing job with his setup, so maybe you can use his as an example for further ideas:

Yeah I have seen that one before. I am going to have to do some research and get some ideas for sure.
