I have to do it. Phenom II X6 or FX-8120? - Page 2

His board probably already supports Bulldozer, if you go to that link you mentioned and search for BIOS updates, they are already up to 1.60:

1.6010/12/2011Instant Flash2.37MB1. Update CPU code.
2. Improve USB mouse function.

The CPU list only goes up to 1.20

My Asus 880G board which I bought because it would support Bulldozer/32nm chips already got updated as well.

in my opinion the 8120 is the only version worth buying. It performs "ok" at its price point and it should overclock pretty well. I can't say if it is worth 70 bucks over the phenom x6 though.

bulldozer is like 30% slower then PII's so i would say spending $70 more for one would be silly.

Yeah, I would give it a week or two before deciding. There are a lot of inconsistencies, and it has been shown that the Win scheduler needs tweaking.

AMD only OFFICIALLY supports 9x0 series chipsets for Bulldozer, my bad.

Hmm, and you guys appear to be correct. There are newer BIOS's listed, but none of them are on the CPU Support list. It's possible that his board does support Bulldozer. He'd have to look at the BIOS updates, to see if any address it.

I think I might go with Zosma they are cheap, OC well, and possibly unlock to 5 or 6 cores.

Heck yeah man. 960T looks very tasty to me personally. Even if it doesn't unlock, you get the benefit of having a Thuban IMC, which is nice.
