How do you overclock i5 2500k? [Newbie]

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

So I completed my first ever pc build, and Im glad to say everything went smooth and painless, it was a hell of a lot of fun and I can't wait to start overclocking.

Specs:
HAF 932
i5 2500K + Noctua NH C14
GTX 560 Ti HAWK
8gb Patriot 1800mhz RAM
AsRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3 MOBO
WD 1TB 7200RPM 64mb Cache
Samsung CD Drive

Today, I ask the pros:

When it comes to overclocking, what are the necessary programs I should be downloading for monitoring, and testing?

I'm unsure of how to use the AsRock Tuning BIOS, could you please shed some light.

Links to videos / how to's? Would be appreciated.

I really do not mean to bog down the forum with my questions
Please leave me a quick response, and I'll get out of your hair as I'm pretty self sufficient smile.gif

Hi John,

I would start by taking a gander at this post: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/1100100-info-intel-2500k-2600k-overclocking-tips.html

It basically has everything you need to start overclocking.

Basically you want to start off by changing the multiplier mildly, then stress it to see if it's stable (prime95 or intel burnin test). Make sure you have RealTemp to monitor your temperatures.

And then you basically rinse and repeat...Hope that helps
