Help!

Thread Starter
I just made my first ever build and I booted up bios showed up but my fan sounded like a jet engine and temp was at 79 c. I looked at it and the fan was getting stuck on a wire. Booted up again and bios showed it at 50c and slowly rising. I remember when I installed the fan I had trouble and lifted it off the cpu and mightve rubbed it around getting it back on. Do I need new paste? Also one of the fan pins isnt completly unmovable like the others. Any help would be appreciative!

Try to make sure the stock heatsink is locked down tightly. You can only install it once BTW and afterwards you have to apply new TIM.

The BIOS is probably having the fan run low cause the temp is low, it will probably rise when it's heating up. As long as you are always below 96c it won't throttle. Shouldn't be a problem. Load up windows and monitor temps using real temp. See what the cores read.

Are u running a stock cooler? even on stock this is way too hot.

Usually a little movement inst a big deal, some like a little because it helps smooth out the TIM, but thats not the case on stock coolers.

If you are running a stock cooler, and have removed it after clamping it down and running the system, then yes u need to reapply the paste.

By fan pins are you referring to the clamps that hold down the stock cooler?

Yes, use alcohol to get all of the old tim off and put a pea sized drop on the cpu then just put the hs back on.
