What? I don't think the X6 or the older i7's draw anywhere near that much. My OCed 860 and crossfired 5850s only drew like 425watts when all were at full load. I haven't plugged in my kilowatt since I got my 580 though.

I think they are working the GPUs in that test as well

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure. I'm hoping BD comes through, in the end, SOME HOW...the market will need it to.
I'm surprised that many are buying the 8150 over the 8120 which is essentially the same processor just clocked lower and since they are both unlocked... sure the 8150 is higher binned but I don't think the price difference is worth it for most of us that are thinking of getting a BD (admittedly not many of us on this board).

Just to let you know,

at http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category...PUs-Processors

AMD hold the guiness book of records for highest overclock with desktop processor at

8.492GHz w/ the FX-8150 (done with helium and nitrogen)

also, with the ASUS crosshair 990fx board hit

4.8GHz w/ the FX-8120 (done with $35 air cooler)

I dont know about you but I like these numbers.

Im sure with the H80 and the FX-8120 on the way, I can hit some high frequencies too.

If you have liquid cooling the higher binning is probably worth it, but aside from that, save yourself the money

When it comes to engineering somthing from the ground up it take's lots of time, money, and energy from EVERY one involved. I dont know the answer for this but how long was SB in R n D? how much was spent? what did intel have to overcome to get it to be the raging hoss that it is today? I wasn't paying attention to the SB chip's when they came out, but I'll bet there where a kink or two when it was released, how many BIOS update's have been released to fine tune its performance?
Well, BD was delayed and was likely done so to work on this stuff more...as for BIOS tweaks increasing performance...can you remember any one saying "Intall <a certain BIOS> and your Vantage score will increase 400 points!" It never happens. Go look at some random release notes for some BIOS revisions on a some random motherboards. You will see that very few of them have anything directly performance related. It might have an indirect increase in performance due to better compatability and the like, but that is the tweaks I am expecting. This is a CPU and not GPU...there is no driver or firmware upgrade for it and BIOS updates can only do so much.

OMG IT'S NOT ONLY ABOUT CLOCK SPEED. Clock speed means flip all when comparing all CPUs.. At the end of the day, like I said, money is money. The performance (NOT CLOCK SPEED) you get from that money matters. And it's well established that clock speed and number of cores are not what you should be looking at. It's all in the benches.

I dont know what you guys are talking about saving money. Any of the FX's are cheaper than 90% of intels. I think its a damn good deal for $200

Except for the part where it gets beaten by a $190 Thuban, and $130 Denab in nearly every situation that matters.
