Good quality, low price 500-550w psu

Thread Starter
I'm looking to upgrade to a gaming graphics card, namely the Radeon HD 6850. In order to do that, I need to get a better power supply than the 350w one I have right now. I was looking at the Antec BP550 Plus 550W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tem=17-371-016), and it seems to have gotten good ratings. My question is, will it work for high-settings gaming w/ the HD 6850, or is there something else I should get instead?

That power supply should work just fine.

Here's a bit cheaper, black one that has a single 12v rail, however it is not modular.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182199

And yes, the 6850 requires at least a 450 watt supply, meaning at max usage 450 is all it will need. so 500-600 is just fine.

BP550 is mediocre out the wazoo. it barely meets ripple/noise spec and barely meets efficiency specs

better PSU, more efficiency, single 12v rail, only 5 dollars more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182131

these are on the same platform as the OCZ ZS series which was reviewed very well, so no worries on the quality.

except that corsair PSU costs more [when factoring in shipping and before rebates], is less efficient, and is not modular.

remind me again how it's better? oh yeah, corsair logo

OP, please don't listen to this guy.

Yeah, I'll probably end up buying the Rosewill Hive one.. But is there a reason that one is better choice than the Green Series one, other than it being modular?

Higher efficiency. both units are good though, if you want to save a few bucks go for the green series one. I would go for the HIVE just because it's modular but that's just me. To some it's not a big deal.

Ok, I was perusing some forums and found this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Item=17-371-03

Wondering if I should get it because it's on discount and seems to be on par with the other psu's, if I'm reading the specs correctly..
