[Google] RIP Dennis Ritchie, Creator of the C Language & UNIX - Page 4

He may not have been as popular as someone like Steve Jobs but he sure as hell was just as important!

R.I.P Dennis, I'm sure my children will be reading about you in a history book just like Jobs.

Indeed, the loss of any visionary will prove to provide great remorse. I believe that people are mentioning Steve Jobs only to stand as a comparison in terms of their diverse, but equally significant contributions, and to juxtapose the coverage and recognition that both their deaths have gained. I hope more people will become aware of this man and aspire to push forward with even greater innovation.

This. RIP Jobs but people carry on like he personally invented the mp3 player and smartphone.

Dennis Ritchie helped create the C language in order to write the first unix kernel, because there wasn't a suitable language around at the time. Now THAT's dedication.

This is very true. Without C we'd probably just be in the early 90s. And UNIX is equally important.
