Switching from AMD

Thread Starter
I need a new rig, basically for Gaming, Photo edition, every day usage.
I was waiting for the FX-8150, but you know...
This was what I had in mind

Mobo: Asus Crosshair V Formula / Thunderbolt Link TiggerDirect
CPU: AMD FX-8150
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100 [/URL]) Link TiggerDirect
Graphic card: EVGA GTX 590 Classified (no the Hydro) Link TigerDirect
PSU: CORSAIR AX1200 (Why 1200W ? 'cause I hope to get another GTX 590 in few months) Link NewEgg
RAM: 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series(2 x 4GB) DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Link NewEgg
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942 Link NewEgg
SSD: Cosair 120GB 6Gbps Link TigerDirect
HDD: Seagate 3TB 6Gbps 64MB Link TigerDirect
Optical Drive: Asus 24 X Link NewEgg
Fan Controller: AeroCool V12XT Link NewEgg

Now I'm thinking buying an i7 2600k, but...
Wich RAM memories ?
Wich MOBO ?
Wich CPU Cooler ?

I know nothing from Intel and this could be my 1st Intel CPU (rig)
Recommendations are ALWAYS appreciated.

get the same ram that you had listed. or the patriot viper xtreme div 2s(got mine for $40 - 8gb @ tiger)

get either a z68(discrete and integrated graphics, Smart response technology, Ivy bridge support) or p67(elite gaming chipset for sandy, cant use the integrated graphics though) mobo. MSI and asrock both have very nice z68 boards(pcie 3.0, hdmi/dvi ports) and have confirmed using ivy bridge on them. for a p67 look at the asus mobos.

and why not try to go for 2 lower end video cards like the 570s, save a little money and get better performance.

if you want to do liquid cooling why not look at getting some of the universal gpu coolers($60ish each and still great performance) and pick up a rasa raystorm($65) since im asumming you were already going to pic up a pump etc for the 590. overall better performance and great cooling. just my 2 cents

If your going to go SLI cards, then get a board that has a NF200 chip for more pcie bandwidth

@microfister
Now I'm considering the Asus Maximus IV (P67 or Z68 IDK yet)

I think in this GPU and planning to buy another one when I collect the money.
I'm looking for better performance in game, specially in BF3 :-)

@SMK
NF200 ?
Can you give me some examples ?

if your looking to keep your sandybridge then go p67, if your looking to upgrade to Ivy when it comes out you need to look at the z68 boards.

Any board that has more than two x16 PCI-E slots basically for SB uses the NF200 switching chip (Asus Maximus, MSI WS revolution, ASrock Extreme7, etc). Its performance is lower than actual dedicated x16 lanes like on an X58 board, but its still better than dropping to x4/x8.

the only companies ive seen confirming the use of ivy bridge samples on their boards were MSI and Asrock, and both pointed at their high end z68 boards with pcie 3.0

and if your going ivy wouldnt you want to utilize all the features of it? the new IGP is up to 30% more powerful(i stream HD movies to my living room with mine through the hdmi port, and still have nvidia surround at the desk) and can run 3 seperate monitors. plus pcie3.0 support, why wouldnt you want to be able to use all the features of the chip when it comes out. apart from just raw power over the 2600k due to 3d transistors.

What you mean ?
Ok,
I want a motherboard that can run 2 GTX 590 SLI at x16,
not x16, x8, and should be able to run Windows 7 on SSD and everything so far indicates that SSD it's for storage.
I'm so confused with this Intel switch !!!

even going from x16 to x4 is minimal difference. our gpus barely saturate the bandwidth. yes you will see more drops in FPS, but still negligible difference.
