It is some Pentium 3 fan found in the trash,

I had more trust 10 year old Intel bearing than any new fan I had laying a around.

Then fan is not plugged it is simply there to hold the turbine stable from the other end.

fan is on auto so temp are the same, fan spin at same 33% speed.

I am really curious if cutting the Intel fan blades would decrease or increase air flow.
My guess is It might hinder at higher speed, (~60%)
