looks pretty interesting. when i saw turn based i thought it would be alot bigger scale, but it's much more like individual pieces per turn so each turn is faster. like checkers almost. thanks for the heads up!

OCN needs a thread like this. Make sure you check out IndieGames and PixleProspector, they're normally up to date on indie games and I visit them a few times a week to catch up on whats new. Also, here are some games I have my eye on or have been playing:

Project Zombiod:

The trailer doesn't show any gameplay but its the only trailer indiestone has released. SpykeZ posted a thread on this game a while ago and I ended up buying it because I love zombies and the whole idea of surviving a zombie apocalypse. The game focuses on realism and is played in an isometric view. There is currently only one objective and thats to see how long you will survive knowing that you will die eventually. It could be from becoming infected and turning into a zombie (added next update along with a save feature), having some one break into your house and kill you, bleeding out, starving, being caught inside a burning house, and so many other ways. They have already talked about plans to add multiplayer at a later date.

Dustforce

I absolutely LOVE Super Meat Boy and this game looks like its using the same sort of game play with fighting added in. Its visual style is one of the main thing that caught my eye and music in the trailer is amazing. It will be available later this year through steam (can't wait!).

King Arthur's Gold:

Its a 2D team based capture the flag type game. Think tf2 meets terarria. You need to chose a class and defend or build stuff to help your team advance.

Owlboy:

An amazing 2D side scrolling platformer. The pixel art on this game is breath taking. Theres a demo in the link above and I suggest you give it a try. I can't wait for it to be released.

The only thing I would suggest is try not to put too much info on the first page. Trying to list every single indie game coming out and listing those that are out could take up more space then you have. Less would be more, in this case highlighting those games you can get now (think "Released this month") would be a lot easier to read than a list of 100 games coming out later or a list of those games already out. A sort of indie game spot light (your "currently in dev.") is a great idea to get some people interested in those games. Also see if you can find some official/ unofficial ocn thread on specific indie games to link to them as this thread is sort of for indie games in general.

On a side note, I read they released the mod tools (or were going to) for Project Zombiod but I haven't looked into it. I'll definitely look into that L4D one used in a video you posted, the picture of bill and the guy who breaks in as Francis is brilliant! Also don't forget to link to Desura's Alpha funding, they'll be adding more games to it as time goes by and buying the games while they're in alpha gets you a discount and an alpha version to play while they develop them.

true, there are way to many to try and cover past, present and future...kinda feeling that already
so instead will just try to keep up to date

would it be better to add new games as they come out as a normal post in the thread and then link that to the first post that way they travel with the thread? would spread the information around instead of having it central, but as you say..everything in one spot would take up more space than i have.

i have been able to link OCN threads already like SpikeZ's Project Zomboid (and warned him of it lol)

think post #2 will turn into a more compact list of games "released this month"
then have move the "Currently in Dev" to post #3. The link to Desura's Alpha funding is a perfect idea to.
actually i think i like that more and more, ill keep a compact list of games already covered in post 4 and then all their info can be kept in post throughout the thread... once a group of games drop off the "released this month" i can push them to the end of the thread all as one and just link it.

Packs and deals will be post#5 and can stay as it is for now, i like having the game list and money raised part, that really shows how much interest they have gathered up.

yay?

Sounds good but more input from other would be welcomed and the Desura alpha funding can go under deals since its pretty much a discounted preorder.

Also since I missed this post:

Samorost 2

Short but really sweet. It looks very similar to Machinarium and is the same genre of game.

Time Gentlemen, Please! and Ben There, Dan That! Special Edition

Another point and click. Dated but they have some very clever writing/ puzzles. The devs on Ben there Dan that and Time Gentlemen said that they were working on an updated version of those games which will be free to those who own the originals.

As for games like Limbo you should check out Braid and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, both really great puzzle platformers. I can't recommend any other games that have the same tone and feel that Limbo has since thats really what makes Limbo Limbo.

yes of course more input is always best, im just thinking of better organization...heck if i could i would give out "editing" powers to people i could trust. good point with alpha funding and the deals.. ill move it over there

definitely want to get Braid in here, ive only played the demo but really want to play the rest.

righto, gtg for now and enjoy the storm

Braid is fun and I suggest everyone tries to play it without a guide but you'll definitely need one to get a 100% playthrough along with the alternative ending.
