Looking for a New Headset.

Hey Guys, Max here,

I'm looking for a new headset.

I currently have a Razer Carcharias but it's dying on me, and has lasted me well though i wish to explore new audio terrain! So i would wan't something that is a step up from this headset.

I've done some reading and looking around, but there are so many choices and all have some negative views that in turn make my decision making even harder.

I would prefer to not spend >$120.

Also what is the deal with 7.1 and 5.1 Digital Surround sound. Is it that much of a difference from my Razer set? I also really like the deep bass sounds the carcharias has.

Also, would i need a sound card for digital surround sound? I have an MSI p67a-gd65 mobo, which claims to have some fancy THX audio thing on it, though im not sure if that's the same thing.

Eitherway, the main point is to get some ideas on good headsets that you folks here use, or have used and would reccommend!

Thanks guys

get a stand alone microhpone and then some JVC rx 700s. there you go a setup for 40 bucks and better quality to boot

also, 5.1 and 7.1 are just gimmicks and you will spend more for them and get less quality then a good stereo set of headphones.

This link helped me alot and the guy seems to really know alot about audio products.

I took the advice of some of the audiophiles here and went with the Audio Technica AD700. Paired with a $10 Zalman mic, it's the best experience I've had with headphones. The positional audio is excellent and my music sounds great on these. All in all I paid around $100 on Amazon.
