Some questions about OC'ing a GTX580

Thread Starter
So I have this EVGA GTX580 and I'm happy with it and everything else... But looks like I've got some really nice temps with it running on stock (it never goes further than 80ºC, even playing BFBC2 on max), so I'd like to overclock it a bit (I don't know if it's necessary, don't think so... But it's fun, right? )

So what is the best software to deal with it? Afterburner or EVGA Precision? What's the difference between those 2?
How far did you guys get your EVGA GTX580's on safe temps?

Any tips are more than welcome

on my old card (evga) i used precision, then i bought a msi card and got afterburner with it. personally i prefer afterburner.
think most ppl will agree on that.

my cards are liquid cooled and dont get above 45-50
so cant help you with the OC part

OC the core first in steps of 10 maybe 15 mhz ... and every time you rise the OC do a stablitiy test... some 3dmark11.. heaven... and play some heavy gpu demanding game...
when you reach de ceiling you can add some volt.. test temp... then again increase core...
i wouldnt go more than 1.1V with stock cooler i think 80 - 85 are safe temps... once you get youre desired Oc on core... you can try Oc memory... remember to put fan at 100% when your going to stress the gpu... a good OC utility would be Msi After Burner 2.1.0 gl and have fun with the OC

Thanks for the answers, let me ask another thing...
How can I get the 3DMark from EVGA? I've registered my card but got nothing... Do I have to request by some link or something like that?

Go afterburner if you can, less WinXP-like-GUI and has updates much more frequently than EVAPrecision.
