It's actually really easy to replace the fan wiring. It's not done very often, but like you, I am doing the same in my build. The advantages you listed are the reasons to do it!

Good luck on this build!

Yeah I'm not too worried about re-wiring/soldering the fans, I was just scared of damaging the fan while trying to access the circuit board. The Zalman ZM-SF3 fans aren't assembled like most and google gave me nothing on how to take them apart. Thanks for the comment smile.gif

As for your fan I believe some are held on by a hotgluegun.
Not all but some, you could always sacrifice one to find out.

As for soldering your fan directly to your fancontroller isn't recommended.
What if a fan dies or has a bad bearing you would have to pull and remove all your fans etc just to get to that one fan.
Use the regular fan connector pins for this.

Best of luck!

I think you might be right about the circuit board being held on by glue. Those fans were purchased on-line and they took a couple of weeks to arrive which is why I haven't risked breaking one yet, but I'm considering sacrificing 1. I'll post some pics when I end up destroying it wink.gif No I don't plan on soldering the fans directly to the fan controller tongue.gif The 600T case comes with extension cables, each has a 2 pin connector which connects to the controller and 3 pin connector which connects to the fan. So I am going to remove the 3pin connector and the unneeded third wire from all of the fans and attach the 2 pin connector directly to the fans, so I can eliminate the extension cable all together. Ya with me?

Yeah mate, the whole thing biggrin.gif Allot of work I know but, I'm trying keep the cable routing as tidy as possible by having no excess wire. Also, I don't want the PSU wires to bleed through the sleeve. I know for a fact any brand of white sleeve looks crap on wire which isn't white.

I can't wait either! I've got the day off work tomorrow so I'm going to get things rolling. thumb.gif

Yeah I realize that, the Zalman ZM-SF3 fans don't give you easy access to circuit board. I haven't managed to take apart the fan entirely but I'm going to try again later tonight.

I did the math, its about 800 metres more than I need redface.gif But I'll find other things to use it on and I doubt this will be my last build.

These white/black builds either look awesome or terrible, and it's all based on how much effort the builder puts into it. You're putting a TON of work into this, I'm sure it'll come out great!! I'm subbing.

Update: I tried removing the circuit board from one of the Zalman ZM-SF3 fans, and failed. As promised, I've uploaded a picture in the "Cable sleeving" section for you all to check out (and have a laugh at my expense) biggrin.gif There's no way that circuit board was ever coming off! There's also a picture of my first attempt at cable sleeving.

It's not going to be an entirely white/black build, there will be some colour thrown in, mainly red and grey to complement the motherboard, ram etc. Thanks for the comment and subscribing. thumb.gif
