what intel mobo to get?

long story short- bulldozer is a disappointment sooooo what mobo should i get? Ill be getting a 2600k and re-using the rest of my sig rig/watercooling gear

-i will be getting a 2600k
-5870 trifire
-4x4gb mushkin 1600
-1 120gb ssd boot drive, 1 hdd storage

what are the advantages of z68 over p67? doesn't seem like a heck of a lot to me. been looking at either this z68 or this p67. i was also thinking about the ASUS P8P67 DELUXE REV3.0 but really cant decide just because its so much cheaper than the first two and seems to have all the features i need, the first two have almost the same price so i would lean towards the p67 extreme since i am running trifire and it would allow for a bit more bandwidth for my gpus... oh and i dont see a reason for me to get z68... any help is much appreciated

The z68 cant provide the bandwidth for 3 way Xfire.

ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION LGA 1155 Intel P67 / NVIDIA NF200
That one can 3way SLI due to the nf200 but it cant 3way Xfire

If you dont plan on using and overclocking the on board gpu then no z68 does not differ much from P67, If Z68 is cheaper then by all means go for this as it is the newer chipset of the two. P67 and Z68 overclock the same aswell.

I use the Asus P8P67 Pro and its a great board that overclocks very well indeed

the z68 chipset is meant for those planning on making the jump to ivy bridge, if that isnt your concern, and you dont have a need for the integrated graphics or SRT then go p67. another issue you have is that the z68 chipset has limitations on using more than two pcie 2.0/3.0 slots (losing the use of a sataIII port, 2 pci slots, and your pciex1 slots). 3 way sli isnt truly implimented on the z68 chipset yet, except for once of the asus boards. trifire is, but its meant for 6990 and a 6970 etc. if you dont plan to make the jump to Ivy go p67, if you want to guarantee yourself compatability with ivy you need to look at the z68 boards with pcie 3.0(3.0 isnt necesary, but Ivy supports it) slots on them.

thanks, will probably go with the p8p67 deluxe since i cant really justify the features on the other boards... it will be my 1st intel build that i plan on using as my main rig so im sure i will have plenty to learn about before ivy comes out! im happy to be leaving AMD... other than my cpu i think i have a pretty decent rig

technically your cpu is still pretty good too, unfortunately its just not very future proof.

wrong
both P67 and Z68 have ivy support from Bios updates.
Only difference is only z68 boards bar the AsRock range have PCIE 3 but you dont need that for Ivy.

So yeh get the P8P67 Pro or Deluxe depending on needs.
