Heres a comparo mostly between thuban and dildozer...almost all the time the thuban wins.

Edit: I think it wins in all the games overclocked too...

I really think AMD should have given each core its own front-end so that each core could pick its own thread to work on... this would have made the FX series a monster and rape an i7... though this wouldn't have fixed the single threaded performance issue.

Just looked at anand's bench... I would say that the FX is an improvement over the current phenom II x6

wouldn't say its that much of an improvement though...

Ok so is it good for the price per core?

I think it is, $260 for 8 cores and you can always OC.

I'm not saying it pwns the 2600/2500k i'm just saying for the price it is pretty snazzy.

man your right BUT, if your do OC on BD it's power consumption is like 300-400W.
BD's 8 cores lead over SB 4 cores very questionable on stock, and if you go OC on SB it goes ahead by ALOT!

ALSO THE 2500K IS CHEAPER!

FX8150 was supposed to be released about 1 year ago and compete (price/perf.) with 980x.
2600K killed both in synthetic benchmarks!

That is true. The 2500K is cheaper.
And the power draw for the 8 core BD is a lot.
But for people who need 8 cores on the cheap. Then BD all the way.

Also BD is good for folders who can afford it 8 real cores is better than 4 real and 4 logical cores.

Not in this case. Stop counting cores and look at performance. The 2500k is BETTER AT FOLDING and uses much less power. So in this example, 8 real cores aren't even better than 4 real cores.

No folder should consider this chip unless AMD releases a performance fix.

For folding? No it isn't...from what I've read, 13,000PPD SMP...my 1055T already does that at only 3.6. My i7-950 does that at stock
