malcom you sure do talk up BD but where is your chip? Why haven't you bought one already? Where are all the members who have one if it's so amazing? Gappo has one, Sin has one. No one else has one.

I didn't realize this but if its true that could mean a very different future for Bulldozer (or even Thuban)

To be interested in tech advances or some product doen't mean immediately buying the hardware... but you made me roflmao... eh eh eh

Bulldozer is "underwhelming." Given everything stacked up against it (see here), I think its amazing that it did as well as it did, and can't wait to see what future updates bring.

relax. i'm sure part of the reason many people don't have them is because it's hard to find the 8150 for sale anywhere.

i have to agree with the guy, people are overreacting. maybe because they had to wait for so long there was a lot of anticipation.

the performance isn't as good as i'd hoped but it's far from bad. the thing that bothers me more is the power consumption.

yes. when games can actually make use of all the cores it will look different. BD should see improvements with the first revision too I'd gander. Sort of like the Phenom X4 had a big boost w/ B3 getting rid of the TLB issue.

Exactly, if it uses way less power than Phenom II then I'll say that's an improvement over the previous generation regardless if it is on low ball performance or par with 2500K.

A lower power comsumption may leads to a lot of good things. Lower heat and more overclocking headroom. But right now, the power comsumption is twice as high.

Wow, not looked on here in awhile but..my,my.

Been a great deal of frustration and disagreements everywhere I have looked and it has been no different here.

Personally I am disappointed with the benchmarks for Bulldozer but I have been around long enough to know something is not quite right with these numbers.

My thinking now is that this will be addressed in the near future with a driver or two, namely from Microsoft, and NOT as the doom mongers are stating that you will have to wait until Win8 and by then...etc, etc.

Yes and it was over hyped but now that AMD have done what intel have for years suddenly there is war declared in the forums!

No, I believe what I have stated and I also believe that AMD will do everything they can to find a solution. After all they have taken alot of notice of all the flak! Oddly it was they that self inflicted this upon themselves and as a result this flak will cause them to take action, whatever that may be.

Yes Bulldozer is finally here but I think another month and certain problems would be ironed out.

I am just not quite sure what happened to the real world testing stage within AMD, this appears to have come as a shock to them and I find that rather odd.

Of course all the AMD supporters who I have seen here and there tossing their toys from their prams and running to intel in tears will only result in AMD floundering and eventually there will be nor more discussions and waits in anticipation.

Instead it will be 'oh yeah another intel processor, oh yeah its 200mhz faster than the last one for double the price'

Does no one remember the Itanium? I do not think the claims that BD is the worst processor ever are realistic, do you?

We have waited this long what is another 4 to 6 weeks of ironing out? Or even sevral months for a die shrink?

Hard to wait? Well I am running an AMD Turion single core at around 1.6ghz (I think and can not be bothered to look) and it manages most things I am currently doing, even if I do want to use it a a Frisbee at times?! lol

I can understand the frustration though, it has taken so long and no one was more disappointed then I was. But as one or two on here may have done I have been trhough similar scenarios once or twice in the past! After all my first computer was a Commodore VIC-20 (EH?!?! I hear a lot of thoughts stating).

If i5 and i7 you have to go out running and buying right now then why did you not a couple of months back?

I myself will wait and maybe buy a laptop in the meantime, before I DO use mine as a Frisbee!! I do like my neighbours cat, would hate for it to land on him! lol.

As for microsoft do not forget, more competition and innovation means more versions of Windows to sell to us and therefore more revenue.

I am sure the laws of economics will come into play here at some point.

No, Zambezi is not the "worst chip ever" by a LONG shot. Honestly, and I've said this several times, I think its amazing that it achieved the level of performance that it did with everything that is stacked up against it. There is not one single thing that will magically "fix" Zambezi, its a lot of "little" things (figure of speech, some of them are quite significant). See here, although there are many many more issues with it.
