There is a lot of factors though, while yes stock a C2D beat a C2Q when you oc'ed and got both to the same clock there was no C2D killing the C2Q. We also lived in a pretty much single threaded world back then as well.

Now a lower clocked C2Q can compete and beat a stock/moderately clocked C2D. But per core it would still be slower. I mean we have to keep in mind the first quads from Intel were 2 dual core dies.

Why the hell else would the Q6600 have been so freaking popular, when oc'ed it matched or beat say a E6750. Of course when the 45nm parts came out the E8*00 were great, but they oc'ed so high and had to in order to beat any Quad Intel counterpart.

I do hope the community can rally and see what the future holds for BD, it's an innovative design regardless how you look at it.

One thing to keep in mind is we don't live in the single threaded world we did 5 years ago, and it can only get better.

From the same review:

I simply love how you cherry pick even the bad reviews, posting only the ones were Bulldozer does well. There could be a review where Bulldozer does well in 1 benchmark then fails in 20, and you'd still use that as part of your propaganda campaign.

Please keep deluding people further. People like you should be banned. I can't imagine how many people you are fooling into buying garbage hardware when a 2500k setup would not only be cheaper but faster in just about everything other than the most multi-threaded software.

And in the same right you pick the worst one to display. You're trying to misrepresent BD as total fail, when it's clearly not. Undeniably, AMD's fastest CPU's to date. Period.

Also, looking at FC2? Really? Does anyone even play that game? Sure it's pretty, but damn, it's pretty bad.

At any rate, why aren't you all ranting about intel? They have a larger per month budget than AMD has FOR THE WHOLE YEAR! And yet, they put out these CPUs' that are just barely better than AMD's. Really? I think intel is the real fail.

If you would have read the entire Tweaktown review, you would have seen that the Bulldozer lost EVERY SINGLE BENCHMARK aside from the one OP cherry picked.

Heres more:
http://cdn5.tweaktown.com/content/4/...J-OHtO2v_r.png
http://cdn5.tweaktown.com/content/4/...fl_XgZgiTs.png

And it doesn't matter that Far Cry 2 is a complete abomination of a video game. It is a CPU limited game a good benchmark for showing CPU performance in those types of games. AvP2010 is a GPU limited game that only uses a single core. You'd get the same performance as long as you're not bottlenecking your GPUs.

Also that review concludes with the following:
Quote:
I walk away from this going, "why do we even have boards with more than two PCIe x16 slots on it?" - That's really disappointing. It's sad for AMD that the best machine for someone to install three HD 6970s into isn't an AMD based one, by a long way.
http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/43...d/index14.html

Yet OP is using it as one of the examples where Bulldozer succeedes. That's right. He's taking a completely negative review, cherry picking the single good benchmark, and using it as a sign of Bulldozer's good performance. Clearly, I'm the villain here

Just would like to say that SB is a bit old now and Intel does steadily push out improved archs thanks to their tick tock schedule and tons of cash. I would agree if say SB was only out for say a month. But it's been 9 months and Intel only has a hand full of months left until another addition.

Not to mention SB is Intel mainstream and Zambezi is AMD's pinnacle offering.

AMD does very well for their budgets etc but it's just hard to outpace a company that at times out paces itself.

I'm not like "OMGZ don't talk badz about Intel" but just want to put what you said in a different perspective.

And I think to a degree almost everyone was just hoping for too much from BD. Even AMD themselves and I'm sure a lot of changes that happened in the past year internally reflect that a bit now.

I know you're arguing w/ some1 else and i'm sticking my head in but i just had to point something out everyone seems to be forgetting.

Do not make the mistake in assuming that because it isn't as fast now in some current games (though i don't really consider FC2 current anymore the DUNIA engine had a minimum spec of a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz & a recommended Intel Core 2 Duo; if that tells anything about how optimized it is for octo) it wont be as fast forever.

remember the $180 Core 2 Duo E6750 used to beat the $850 Q6600 in games when the Q6600 was new.

People used to say no1 needs quad core, quad core is pointless, etc..

play a modern game w/ a E6750 and Q6600 though and you will see a big difference.

like i said in a previous post if the 1st gen i7 can run with and at times better than a 2600k by all of your intel loving logic you have a fail on your hand that you spent more on.. As a matter a fact I would venture that BD is better than phenom more than 2600k is better than 1st gen i7.

Looks like they both compete with themselves to me. With that said I wait for intel fan boi's to speak up?

Just as you've eluded to that the OP is cherry picking, you are as well. this TT review is, by far, the worst. Most other ones don't show this discrepancy, in fact, there's other reviews out there that show the 8150 outpacing or being dead even with the 2600 . Or at least being so close to it, that it would fall within margin of error.
Not to mention this review is using the much debated Crosshair V board. 33% RMA rate? Really? As I'm sure you've read, reviews that didn't use this board seem to have better BD results.

I think that it's too early to call quite honestly. There's just too many things that aren't sorted out to take these piss poor reviews to heart. The results, from review to review, are all over the place and inconsistent. It would be extremely foolish to take any one of them as gospel.

I admit, I am somewhat disappointed with the results. But just as in the past, when new tech comes out, it has a hard time outpacing the existing tech by any considerable margin. I mean, look at the original C2Q's, Fermi.
When Fermi first came out, everyone was calling FAIL! It's slower than existing ATi cards and uses double the power! Sound familiar? But look at it now, there's been revisions, optimization and so on and it's performing much better.

Remember that this is new tech/architecture, if there isn't code that can take advantage of it, it simply wont perform well.
It's like building a race car without tuning it. It just wont run up to its potential until it's been tweaked and tuned to do so.
