AMD FX 8150 all the good ! - Page 45

Main gain in memory speeds is from 1333 to 1600. I won't be changing out my 16GB 1600 RAM even if B3 stepping is good enough for me to buy. Seems that it's more efficient to find gains in NB and HT fiddling.

Yep, because buying Bulldozer at its current price over an Intel part has nothing to do with brand loyalty. Give me a break.

Have to agree here though. Get a 1090 or 1100. Cheaper (considerably) and beats BD more often than not. Wait on a new revision or SW 'fix' for BD.

So he may be brand loyal. So what. Does it excuse the flames and thread crapping from the Intel brigade? No. The BD results are common knowledge, this guy is not an idiot. If he decides on BD, great. Wouldn't be my choice, but I'm not gonna crap all over his thread and tell him what an idiot he is. But I will tell him good luck, and look at what HIS results are if he's brave enough to post them here.

If you want your friends computer to last, have him buy a 2500k setup. The Scorpius/Komodo platform will be useless for at least another 6 months or so. By then, new motherboards and processors will come out so any hardware bought today will be worthless. Same thing happened with Athlon x2. At first they released 90nm chips, then updated them with 65nm variants that obliterated their old counterparts.

The flames and thread crapping are a bit harsh, but come on, the AMD loyalty in this thread over a substandard processor release, far out weighs the fan-boyish comments made by Intel guys. At least recommending an Intel CPU at this point in time for someone building a new computer makes common sense.

I have built an AMD computer at least 50% of the time (I came from a 955 to my current setup)over the last 10 years, but the blind brand loyalty to AMD right now is bordering on craziness.

A good friend is looking to buy a computer and you're giving him horrible advice pushing him to bulldozer.

There is NO reason to even consider BD these days, NONE whatsoever. A 2500K rig is cheaper, faster, overclocks higher and eats a lot less power. It's also a step less then BD in multithreaded apps and kills it in gaming so again way to persuade your friend to waste his money just because you can't accept sandy bridge is better in every single way.
The first failure, even before power consumption, of this processor is to be priced at higher price of a 2500K. In Canada the 8150 is at $282 and the 2500K $238.
The BD should be ok if at least, like the X6, it had 8 REAL cores and so would perform well according to is physical features. But it's not even the case.
W/o taking in consideration the stupid kid wars between AMD/Intel fans, all logical people should admit that it doesn't worth it.
Of course after that, anyone is free to choose and think, it's just an observation.
