This thread is to post the GOOD about Bulldozer, not trash it and trash AMD supporters. I'm really getting tired of seeing this....

speaking of which
bulldozer owners
has anyone did AID64 run with only 1 core from a module yet ?

have not seen any results yet at all for that.

I think pioneerisloud was pretty clear about this matter.

Rest assured we will take actions against those who continue to break the rules.

All I want to see is some efficiency. The modules are a fantastic concept, however they are not anywhere close to perfection.

The Intel test system much more expansive then the AMD system..for that money you can buy 2133MHz+ RAM for the AMD system and then the FX 8150 will outperform the 2600k not only in Dirt3 & Metro2033 but in the rest games as well.

Check out this thread to see what i'm talking about(ram speed benefit):

that site looks fishy..

1.- no screen resolution

2.- no power draw, AFTER they say:

Hardware used:

Plug-in electricity usage monitor
Sound level meter

oh... and the only guys with this results are them, not a single other REPUTABLE website can duplicate them

and with a lower IPC wich its more than proved by everyone??

mmm....

BD have potential, but not this round.. it really needs a new revision

OH BTW:

Crosshair V "formula" vs a Maximus IV Extreme... extreme.. why not a Crosshair Extreme?!?!

and the conclusion is weird

clearly BD is not perfect, yes revisions and redesigns will be implemented in future modules.
but clearly this really didn't do all that bad.
there was no way AMD on it's first outing on a completely new architecture like this was going to overtake Intel.
But for the size of AMD and it's R&D department budget. they caught Intel where Intel usually dominates.
if they improve single thread performance more i can see their multi thread performance going through the roof.

No true.. look what happened with intel and the Conroe CPUs when they were released

i think the biggest 2 problems are: not optimezed software (maybe operating system too) AND the super high power draw (first gen on a new 32nm production??)

First off - the price of the FX 8150 is supposed to be $245. If you want to compare prices to Intel's i5 or i7 then go by the manufacturers suggested retail of $245, not what it is currently being gouged at. Bulldozer becomes a bit better value a that point. Once they get in stock and stay in stock I figure the price will fall to what AMD wanted them priced at.

Secondly - Most of the verified owners on Newegg's reviews are very happy and seeing real world performance increases over AMD Phenom II. Windows running snappier, higher framerates, etc. This is good news and I will put much more stock in these reviews than a website running benchmarks rather than actually using the CPU on a daily basis.

Thirdly - Who buys an 8 core CPU to run a few games and surf the net? The benefit and main reason to buy such a CPU would be heavily threaded usage. This is where Bulldozer actually performs. It was advertised as an 8 core CPU not as a net surfing monster.

This is the best phrase and the BIGGEST truth I have seen in a forum for years.

I have been an AMD fanboy for years, owning in time (that I can remember):

K6
K6-2 3dNow
Duron (My first GHz CPU!)
AthlonXP
Athlon 64
Athlon X2 5200+
Phenom 9850
Phenom II 1090t

After waiting for eons for the hyped bulldozer I have just bought a 2500k gaming rig, that already passed a 24 Hours prime torture test at 4.8Ghz,
for the first time since k6 I am not going to experience AMD new products.
Only in an almost optimum parallel processing scenario they are a valuable
problem in my opinion (if you dont mind power usage).

For those who say that Bulldozer is winning in some game benchmarks, when
you get scores like 78fps vs 76fps the game is highly GPU bottlenecked
and scores give no clue about cpu processing power.

One way of getting GPU bottleneck out of the equation is lower resolution
and textures so the GPU doesn't have to work that much. The other one
(solution that I prefer) is benchmarking with SLI or CF, in this scenario is
the CPU who has to show it's power to feed GPU's with data to draw.

here you have a 3x CF 2600K vs fx-8150 (both overclocked to maximum frequencies they could achieve). Fx-8150 sometimes simply looses, sometimes it is simply a total fail.

http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/43...ad/index1.html

best regards, and I hope that AMD can stand up and continue fighting.
