Duron (My first GHz CPU!)
AthlonXP
Athlon 64
Athlon X2 5200+
Phenom 9850
Phenom II 1090t

After waiting for eons for the hyped bulldozer I have just bought a 2500k gaming rig, that already passed a 24 Hours prime torture test at 4.8Ghz,
for the first time since k6 I am not going to experience AMD new products.
Only in an almost optimum parallel processing scenario they are a valuable
problem in my opinion (if you dont mind power usage).

For those who say that Bulldozer is winning in some game benchmarks, when
you get scores like 78fps vs 76fps the game is highly GPU bottlenecked
and scores give no clue about cpu processing power.

One way of getting GPU bottleneck out of the equation is lower resolution
and textures so the GPU doesn't have to work that much. The other one
(solution that I prefer) is benchmarking with SLI or CF, in this scenario is
the CPU who has to show it's power to feed GPU's with data to draw.

here you have a 3x CF 2600K vs fx-8150 (both overclocked to maximum frequencies they could achieve). Fx-8150 sometimes simply looses, sometimes it is simply a total fail.

best regards, and I hope that AMD can stand up and continue fighting.
No one plays at low resolutions. I suggest you look at this review, it is done right. CPU dependent games are tested at high resolution but low AA. Every component except CPU/Mobo is the same, and it's run by a CPU expert, Gabriel Torres over at Hardware Secrets.

in the link you recommend & at stock speeds:

STARCRAFT2 bd 244fps 2500k 242fps = GPU bottlenecked irrelevant test

Lost planet 2 bd 79 fps 2600k 79 fps = GPU bottlenecked irrelevant test

Deus Ex bd 82 fps X6 80 fps = GPU bottlenecked irrelevant test

look at this FPS test (tri SLI max OC achieved in both processors)

There are 2 games so badly coded that even a 3x CF is not enough and fx-8150 and 2600k make a technical draw (equal scores) and there are some more demolisher charts stating how bad bulldozer is where these came from. Not even 3000MHz DDR5 RAM is gonna solve Bulldozer problems....

I am an AMD fanboy keeping my good old 1090t 4gHZ for everyday use and my new flaming 2500k 4.8Ghz for gaming

"
I think most ppl forgot or just don't know about the memory controller and the fact that AMD Bulldozer FX can use up to 2600MHz ram.
In your link we can see that 2600k which clocked 500MHz more kills the FX 8150 in most of the games on 3XHD6970 setup..the thing is that both AMD and Intel setups on 1600MHz memory..if they test this way--->FX8150+2133MHz vs 2600K+1600MHz and at same clock speed the result was that the FX 8150 beat i7 2600K.
i7 2600k has 1066/1333 MHz memory controller and the FX 8150 has 1866 MHz memory controller..so if you want to compare FX 8150 to i7 2600K the FX 8150 should be using ram 533MHz more then the ram on i7 2600k system.
*btw it will be the same price $ , cause the i7 2600K price is higher ."

Shhhhh....

I love reading his ridiculous posts. They give me a good laugh whenever i'm down because of the sheer stupidity.

I don't understand why you would limit one CPU to another? I realize that the memory controller is higher, but it doesn't give enough of a performance boost to be seen as the Bulldozer "solution".

IPC has to be addressed for these CPUs to make ANY type of move forward.

that's a fact..same goes for high resolutions with multi gpu setup.

what's i'm saying is FX8150+1866mhz = i7 2600k+1333mhz / FX8150+2133MHz vs i7 2600k+1600mhz.

And that's not good at all build rig with lower then 1866MHz ram on AMD Bulldozer FX.
I bought my BD with that thought in mind. I got the FX 6100 so it's just "6 core" but I am curious to see how it can fare against my 2500k.

I bought TX 2000MHz ram to help in that situation vs. my 1600MHz ram in my Intel setup.

I've seen this thrown around so many times now I am curious if it has any effect at all.

Hoping to get results by the weekend, still waiting on parts.

Last ram speed test I saw and ran showed no improvements going beyond 1600MHz really. Timings just get in the way too much, but I haven't played with it since the release of SB so I'll visit it again and with AMD since it's suppose to help them.

In gaming, right??

OK, show us a test where these two CPUs are pitted against each other in this scenario.

If you can't produce the numbers, then all you're saying is speculative and can't be supported by anything. So until then, please be quiet with all this garbage you're spewing.

I have respect for AMD, but it just wasn't there this time. No quick fix is going to solve the issues plaguing this FX series chips right now.

Timings just get in the way too much, but I haven't played with it since the release of SB so I'll visit it again and with AMD since it's suppose to help them.
i look up for your post.
