[MD] Researchers Find Possible Cure for Peanut Allergies - Page 2

Peanuts are essentially banned from most public spaces, and if they are not banned they have to post warning all over the place, it's as if no smoking signs were just redrawn into no nut signs.
The allergy rate has stayed constant, it's public paranoia that has increased.

And over parenting. My older brother has a pretty severe nut allergy, and the onus was on him to simply avoid peanuts, not everyone around him to change their preferences completely so as not to get one iota of peanut oil within 30 meters of him. PB&Js were still a staple in my house growing up, he just had his own almond butter, and we were careful to put jelly on our bread before the PB, or use 2 knives. The levels I've heard people going to these days to keep peanuts away from their kids is stupid. What happens when they walk into a restaurant that fries everything in peanut oil? They will have developed no resistance or acclimation to it and it will be a decidedly unpleasant experience.

Re: The actual story, I hope it works, cause that would be awesome! Plus, maybe they can find 'cures' for other allergic reactions.

I have known the cure to the peanut allergy all along, eat some peanut butter or peanuts when you're a baby. Ever since we've been advised not to do that the peanut allergy rate has spiked, coincidence? I think not.

Actually peanut allergy diagnoses have been increasing. Has more than doubled in the US in the last 10-15years.

The fact that any child who develops a visible skin rash is deemed unfit for peanuts isn't helping.

nuts contain an amazing amount of agents that help in serotonin production that evidently makes you happy. makes you less anxious, releaves anxieties...blah blah blah

Actually, one quite popular idea behind the boom in nut allergies in the last few two to three decades is down to the use of peanut oil in skin care lotions used by women. The use of this oil rose huge amounts just at the time nut allergies did.

Plus, eating nuts when you're a baby doesn't cure you. In fact, it put me in hospital for weeks on end

Peanuts have many nutrients, so many that you can live off of peanuts and water alone- assuming you are not allergic.

The real cause behind the increase in allergies of all kinds in the past decade or so stems mostly from the over disinfecting of children by their parents. Look at how much hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes are used now. Some parents obsessively so. Because of this, children aren't exposed to the bacteria and viruses while their immune systems are developing and thus have very decreased resistance to diseases later on.

that just reminded me of something Dara Ó Briain (search Dara Ó Briain bacteria on youtube) said about the way people act around bacteria these days. I have almost never used those anti-bacterial things and I get over the flu in 2-4 days when I get it, the last time I had the flu was 2 years ago (well apart from this Monday but I got over it yesterday) Most people have it for a week.
