I'm sure it is very frustrating when your literal kyptonite is a single peanut and I hope for those effected with severe allergic reactions this actually amounts to something.
There are varying degress of alergies. My wife's best friend is deathly allergic to peanuts...and all the asorted gutten stuff as well. If you ate a peanut-butter sandwidch even with in 20 meters of her she would probably have a reaction. She was a on a non-peanut flight a few months ago and a passenger on the plane had a bag of nuts in his carry on. he didn't even eat them, but the bag had been previously openned. The plane had to make an emergency landing to get her to an emergency room.

That is the reason for the peanut percautions. I am rather amazed by it myself that a harmless and rather tasty little food stuff can be so deadly to some people. I am glad to see some help might go out to these people...though I would miss giving my wife's friend Mr Peanut items for christmas and birthdays (I wash them very throughally first though)

So we finally won't have to stab people to save their lives anymore?

I don't mean to be rude but that's messed up how she completely inconvenienced all those people on the plane because of her problem. People like that need to stay away from the public. Imagine if you ever made any enemies. All they'd need to do is eat a PB&J sandwich next to you and you'd die.

While I would have agreed with you years ago, especially when elementary schools were banning peanut butter from cafeterias, it is deathly scary how ill one can get from a simple food allergen.

Having your throat close up and lack of an EpiPin is no joke. Good luck trying to save that person in time.

I flew on a United Airlines flight last month which had a passenger with a peanut allergy. United didn't announce there was a passenger on the flight with a peanut allergy until we were 1 1/2 hours in flight. Luckily there were 3 doctors on board the flight because the passenger began to have breathing problems. I offered the use of my nebuilizer but we could not plug it in because the airplane to go off track. The doctors ended up giving the passenger a epinephrine injection. That was the first time I ever saw humongous emergency medical kit on a airplane. What I didn't understand was why this passenger did not have a Epipen with her if she has a peanut allergy. I also don't understand why United Airlines did not announce before hand that there was a passenger with a peanut allergy. They could have announced it while we were all at the gate waiting to board the flight. None the less everything worked out okay for this woman with the peanut allergy. It sure must have been a helluva long 5 hour flight for this woman. I hope they do find a cure for any allergy.

My own allergies have stemmed from the time I was born. Everyone in my family has some form of a nasal or lung allergy. I get teased by others that my food diet sucks because I can't eat a lot of things. My answer to them is I am grateful that I have a health issue which can be controlled. I just don't eat the things that I'm allergic to. There are others who are worse off than me with much more serious health issues.

Peanuts are essentially banned from most public spaces, and if they are not banned they have to post warning all over the place, it's as if no smoking signs were just redrawn into no nut signs.
My last year of high school I got in trouble for eating cashews in class and some kid a allergic reaction to them. I was like mate i didn't know. I felt bad after wards

I once bought a bag of peanuts. On the bottom, it said: WARNING: MAY CONTAIN NUTS!

LOL who would have guessed?

Hopefully pollen and dander allergies can be addressed. Comparatively, peanuts are much more easier to control and avoid compared to seasonal pollen, and pets.

Couple things to address:

Jif is amazing, for you to say otherwise is downright blasphemy. Peter Pan IS gross, as someone else said. Best invention ever for a snack at work? Celery and the new Jif To-Go packs. Mmm... peanut butter wherever I am.

Second, everyone is lactose intolerant, atleast to a certain extent. Our bodies are not designed to consume the milk of another animal, and thats why everyone on the planet has some sort of stomach issue (whether too fast or too slow ) if they eat too much cheese or drink too much milk. Some are just FAR more sensitive than others.
