Ya the power consumption should get a bit of a lessening when the chip gets better support to run less operations for the same tasks. Helps a lot, also if its true the Cache Thrashing can definitely put some additional work in there and cause the chip to in theory work harder at 100% load than it normally would at a proverbial 100% load. That being said though we are not talking about a huge difference but some none the less.

However History repeats itself guys, As I have stated in similar threads. The Fermi GPUs upon release were catching a lot of heat, literally and proverbially! But the newer revisions of the same Architecture are doing far better. Really its going to be a quite simple remedy later on as they revise the chip. Hind Sight is 20/20 no? This time they had to learn a couple mistakes Intel did back in the day with the P4 and also the Hyperthreading.

I wont say BD is without issues, but in my opinion its a damned good start!
