980 or 1100t for bf3

Thread Starter
ok guys, the last month or so my 955 has been slowly dying, it wont even hold a 3.5GHZ clock no more frown.gif (C2 stepping, couldent get it over the old 3.8GHZ wall). i have been waiting to see what bulldozer would bring to the table, but we all know how that tuned out headscratch.gif

my rig will be mainly used for bf3 and prehaps convert a film once a week with convertX

the reason i have picked these processors is because i want the best chance in overclocking them to 4.2GHZ+

so i suppose the question is will bf3 support more than 4 cores ? i know you have to be very lucky to get a 1100t to 4.2GHZ but i wouldent mind an 1100t @4.0 if bf3 took advantage of it

thanks peeps smile.gif

your best bet is the 1100T as the frostbite engine supports up to 8 cores i think.

Why not 2500k?

Go with a 1090t. You'll save $20 and they overclock exactly the same.

lol watch my bouncers mind they will get you! smile.gif

unfortunatly i dont have enough money to build a new computer with crimbo coming up soon, call it a stopgap cpu replacement

i must confess i have never owned an intel cpu. call me a fanboy or an ignorant mofo but i have always belived that when ive gone to upgrade amd has always given me better value for money, when i built this rig an i7 920 setup cost around £700 just for the mobo cpu and ram, it has mostly been the same story all the way through my upgrades.

but i will be looking at a full upgrade in march/april and with bulldozer being pritty much a fail and piledriver looking to be only 10% better in IPC i may go with SB-E or IB if my budget allows it. i might break a 15 year run with amd smile.gif
