Worth upgrading I5-750 to I5 2500K?

Thread Starter
Hello all! First of all i want to ask if my MB will support the 2500K! Here's my Mobo:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-maximus-iii-extreme-review/

And second if it does support the 2500K is it worth upgrading my I5-750 with 2500K ? I don't have any aftermarket cooling. I'm using my rig primary for gaming so will i gate any noticeable increase in frames when gaming ?

If you can sell your i5 750 to make up some of the difference, sure~ if not, not really. I wouldn't pay full price for a 2500k if I had your processor. It's more of a longterm sidegrade really. You will see gains though, especially OCd.

You would have to get a new motherboard even if you made the switch to the 2500k. Personally I would keep the 750, I have the 760 and its still very much powerful for games and applications today.

I just did it but i did it because it is holding back my SLi GTX 570's in BF3. Only getting about 75% useage on caspian border. So it was worth it to me. Check MSI afterburner and see if your GPU isnt @ 100%.

I'm getting 99% Use in any new game. Lower use in some older games like X3 but those are very CPU Intensive...

You have a single GPU. Not 2.
