i7 950@4ghz vs. 1090T@4ghz power consumption

hi OCN. I was just offered a very very very sweet deal on an i7 950. I'm now considering to upgrade my 1090T to the older gen i7.

now my question. my 850w PSU is barely keeping up with my 1090T@4ghz and overclocked gtx 480 SLI (I see the my kilawat meter going up to 1000w+ straight from the wall) I don't want to stress my PSU more so I'm wondering if an i7 950 overclocked to 4ghz would consume more or less power than a 1090T @4ghz. I know thubans aren't that efficient when overclocked. the last gen i7 is not so efficient either especially with hyperthreading enabled.

ty ocn and god bless ima wait for answers

afaik an i7 950 @ 4ghz with HT on would consume a lot more power than an overclocked 1090T. I've read somewhere that they made thuban a lot more power efficient than the previous phenom II's even though it has more cores. but I'm not really sure though

haven't owned an intel cpu myself in a very long time (the last one I owned was a pentium 4 1.6ghz years ago) but I know that the last gen does consume a lot of power but thuban isn't too efficient either especially when overclocked.
